What do you buy at Costco?

That cake is unbelieveable!! Although I usually like the sheet cakes better because, believe it or not, I find the double chocolate cake way too rich (and I’m a major chocoholic!!)

And those cupcakes!!!

And the apple pie!!

And the cheese cake!!

And the coffee cake!!!

Too bad I’m on a (perpetual) diet so most of the time all I can do is “window shop” when I’m in the bakery area!!

I use to belong to Sam’s and decided to try Costco for a year when one opened in our area. Can’t imagine ever going back to Sam’s. In our town at least, the whole experience is much more pleasant at Costco and the products more varied and better quality overall. Lines are usually not a problem and the staff is very helpful and friendly.

Sam’s was ok, but I use to kind of dread my trip there - I look forward to going to Costco - probably too much!

Grocery stores beware!! Times are changing. Many of us no longer need 15 brand name choices for canned goods. We want a quality product at a good price.

Late coming into this thread. Apologies for any repetitions. I LOVE Costco. My s LOVES their priscutto and we love the Jarlsburg light sliced cheese. Its expensive at the supermarket for a small pkg. We can eat through one of Costco’s pkgs pretty quickly. Their hummus is good too. And their lobster spread-- yumm!!!

Also bought Starbucks gift cards at the holidays - got a pk of 5 -$20 cards for $79.99. I also buy postage stamps there for the office. Only save a few cents but dont have to hassle with the PO. Last year I bought a gazillion pks of the Itunes gift cards (sold in 4 packs of $15 cards). I forget how much the savcings was, but as he was giving these out as graduation gifts (and some kids got 2 or 3 giftcards) they went pretty quickly.Oh, and their pistachio chips are yummy too. Lastly, I love to snack on the small York peppermint patties (low fat and yummy) so I buy their big box of those.

Their tire deals are goos, especially when they have a sale (which is frequent) and they will always rotate/repair the tires for free and pump them with the hydrogen (supposed to be better than oxygen.)

We bought those Starbucks gift cards too. Good deal for something we would buy anyway.

BunsenBurner, you’ve convinced me – I’ll pick up another bag of the fingerlings. Thanks for the tip.

I also appreciate that Costco treats its employees well.

confused:o
I thought BB said to skip the fingerling potatoes-- too much work.
FOrgot to mention–
Costco is great about returns. They limit electronics to 90 days (not unreasonable) but will take anything else back anythine. We bought this gizmo to attach to our hot water heater (a recirculator) in July, and its been sitting in the box. We are doing a home remodel and the contractor wants to use a different kind of recirculator. I had my receipt, took it back-- no questions asked (6 mos later)

barrons - zip it already!!! That particular Costco is also MY Costco and after shopping others in the area, I think that one does seem to be “the best”.

I confess to being a Costco junkie. I have been known to go out of my way to buy meat there; the steaks are always wonderful, as is everything else in the meat section. I buy a wide range of stuff there and have developed a decent storage system to accommodate bulk buying. They tend to have the best prices on contact lenses and don’t overlook the on line digital photo finishing process. I submit from home and pick up at the store.

Yes, I do love Costco.

For those of us who have gained weight from eating the great Costco food over the holidays, they now are selling Nutrisystem Programs at a deep discount! :)

jym626, I was the one who said the giant bag of fingerling potatoes was too much work. BB offered an easier cleaning/cooking method that sounds tastier, too. So I’ve changed my stance on fingerlings.

vulture3 and barrons, so are you talking about Issaquah or Kirkland? If I’m going to drive to the eastside to check it out, I might as well try the “best”. Don’t worry, vulture3, I won’t tell anyone else about your store.

The Issaquah store.

We bought the aloha shirts at Costco in Hawaii.

Thanks for the potato clarification, zipyourlips. :D

THey opened a new Costco near me that has thus far been nowhere near as crowded as the others. Its great! I have a ritual-- whe I go I call one of my friends who always needs something, and I get it for her. I did have to set the limit at delivering it to her, as it is out of the way for me, but she comes by my house on her way home from work. Too bad Costco doesnt offer a food delivery service.

BTW, their soft serve frozen yogurt at their food counter is yummy!

Got the Eat This, Not That series of books.

Greek olives.
That Kirkland cereal with macadamian nuts.
Naked OJ (hey do you want your OJ any other way?).
Veggie tray.
Milk.
Kirkland shampoo.
Lot’s of other good stuff…

My absolutely favorite store. Some items are not sold in other places. Quality is exceptional. Sometime, we just stop for icecream.

I can tell what I never buy at Costco: furniture at their Costco Home store. It is expensive, dark-colored and depressing looking :frowning: I wish they had some maple or light oak pieces. Other than that, I’m a major Costco fan.

^^ One of my friends recently furnished her new town house with items almost exclusively from Costco. The house is bright and airy, cathedral ceilings and perhaps that is why it looks so nice even though the furniture is dark.

One of my daughters found some furniture not good for assembling at home. Items didn’t fit
together properly.

Costco is one of the best employers in the US. People are happy to work there and they have far less employee turnover than most other companies. Happy workers make it a pleasure to shop there (if you go early in the day before the huge influx of customers arrive.) The workers are still happy but the long lines and crowded aisles aren’t so great.

At Christmas their electronics prices are amazing. One s who is in the biz said about a particular large screen TV it was priced at only $100 over his wholesale cost.

I bought almost all my Barefoot Contessa Cookbooks at Costco. I also buy the grated parmesan cheese from the fresh section.
I also like the Sabra hummus and the pineapple spears.
