Anyone get a letter in the mail regarding Costco partnering with Google Express? I keep trying to go online to look at the information, and keep getting a message saying the webpage was unavailable. Am wondering if the website got overloaded with interested customers.
Well, it never ceases to amaze me what you can buy through Costco. I’ve been looking for a ‘statement’ light fixture to hang above our new dining table at our new condo. Pinned a lot of fixtures I liked to my Pinterest page, and took those to a lighting store to start pricing them out. Found one I really liked, for $2300, but wanted to sleep on it. In a moment of clarity, I decided to look at Costco’s page… when I searched for lighting fixtures, I was taken to a lighting vendor in New Jersey’s page and found the almost exactly same fixture, for $1200! I called and asked all kinds of questions… like are the crystals real and not acrylic? What is the return policy? So I am ordering it on Monday - it’s a 1-2 week lead time. I’m thrilled!
And I’m pretty sure the lighting store I went to didn’t have massive marks up because we did end up ordering ceiling fans from them, and they beat any price I could find on the internet by $50+.
Dietz, did you mean Amex?
CT, our cards are newer. I think we joined 9 years ago. We are still getting % of Jan spending (which has been very high due to the kiddo graduating and the vacation).
@terwtt, can you send a link for the light fixture? It sounds really nice.
We got a Tempur mattress as our Xmas gift to ourselves! It was $1400 cheaper than the best discounted price at any mattress store! I heart this mattress.
Hopefully this will work:

It’s going above a farm dining table that is 86" long and the fixture is 43" in diameter.
If you don’t like this one this lightingbypecaso website had a lot of other options.
Very nice, Teri! I think it fits the character of your new place well. I have seen some Pecaso Lighting fixtures on display at my local warehouse and was very impressed with the quality.
We bought a tv through Costco that was $1,350 cheaper than anywhere else. Although I agree that you have to shop around. Not everything is cheaper at Costco.
@teriwtt - Nice! I love the idea of a farm dining table too.
We bought the TV from Costco because of the better warranty than if we bought it somewhere else. Computers also gets the 2 year warranty vice the standard one year.
We bought a portable shiatsu massager at Costco yesterday for $99 apiece from a Roadshow–one for H and one for D. It is supposed to be $180-200 elsewhere. Also bought a bag of roasted chestnuts, bag of cuties and 30 cans of Kerns nectar.
Of course we also split a hotdog and soda while waiting for D’s plane to land. The Costco nearest SFO is less than a mile from the rental car center, so that’s where I opted for us to hang out. It was fun watching folks with amazing loads of stuff for their Super Bowl parties.
@BunsenBurner Oops, yes, I meant Amex.
Yippee–the Shiatsu massager was huge hit with everyone who has used it and the price @ $99 each seems very nice.
Living social has a special for Costco membership…$55 …but you get the membership, a $20 gift card to Costco an
I just rejoined Costco today after many years hiatus. My doctor recommended a couple of supplements and said “Costco has the best prices”, a phrase I hear often! I really checked out the whole store pretty thoroughly and I was mostly happy. I don’t think they carry nearly as much brand name stuff any more, so much is Kirkland, it seems.
One question for you all: have you tried the Kirkland brand dark roast K-cups? and do you like it? Dh and I LOVE Green Mountain Dark Magic and I sometimes buy other dark roast coffees on sale but none have measured up yet. I don’t want to buy 100 K-cups without a good recommendation. Thanks.
Also, what kind of salmon do you buy there?
And, crazy enough, I always called it “the 300 dollar store” and sure enough, my total was $303. Crazy huh?
I bought the Kirkland breakfast blend K cups last year. They were not to our taste. So bad I returned the box. I would try the dark roast, if you don’t care for them - you can return the opened box.
I prefer the dunkin donuts brand.
We buy both flavors of the Kirkland K cups. I like the milder one and my husband likes the bolder one. Definitely worth it to us. Much cheaper and I actually like them better than most.
Just bought the Nikon CoolPix s7000 bundle today- $80 off. With all the extra stuff it was much better deal than BestBuy.
@VaBluebird - don’t forget to look at their online store too. If you’re getting something big like a vacuum or mattress, they usually have a lot more variety online and shipping is included. If you have to return it, you can still bring it to the warehouse store.
