What do you buy at Costco?

Yep and a few other cards too. I tried Discover for a couple years and dumped them as the card is not accepted everywhere.

I have friends who swear by Costco’s glasses department, but I’ve never tried them.

It would be nice if Costco had more of a selection of eyeglass frames, IMO, but we have 4 family members happy with their eyeglasses. The glasses take about a week to arrive after ordering but we have had no problems with quality or service and the price beats anyone else in the area.

I LOVE Costco…my DD and I did a college visit a couple weeks ago and there was a COSTCO just down the campus…SCORE!!! I told her I would buy the “menu plan” for her at COSTCO… the $1.50 hotdog/drink special…hahahaha

My only complaint is if you don’t buy something you like when it’s available, you may be SOL and never see it again. Ditto with liking a product you’ve been buying there forever … one day it’s there and the next time…POOF…gone forever.

^^There is no annual fee on the regular Costco Amex card,

I buy my eyeglasses there but bring my fashion consultant with me. Last time I bought men’s frames.

Resurrecting this old thread!!!

Has anyone bought the Tazo Chai Latte Concentrate from Costco??? I love Chai and thought this might save me $$$ over the coffee shop type but be more true to taste than the powdered stuff.

They had some parmesan bagels there the last time I went that my family went crazy over.

Haven’t bought that, abasket, so I can’t help you, but I’ll bump this up.

Our Costco had a pile of fans and AC units yesterday - strictly one per member. I’m enjoying a light breeze from my new tower fan as I type this. The ceiling fans were on sale ($30 instant rebate), so H has a project for the next weekend - yipee!

Last week, they had energy saving light bulbs with a $15 rebate so I got 12 bulbs for less than $5!

Anybody ever bought a Mattress from Costco? Prices seem pretty good and DS is in need of a new mattress…

mabp,
If something is not there at Costco, let them know, they will restock. We did, they reassured us that the next time it will be there, and it was always there after that. Love Costco, the best quality for the best price. Try chocolate mufins, killer. Mufins in general are better than restarant quality and so is Hummus, falafel, salsa, smoked salmon and many other items.

DD loves the Kirkland version of Bare Minerals make up, it costs about $15 and lasts her about 6 months or so. I like the way it looks on her, too.
The frozen cream puff thingies are fabulous, too!

We bought a queen sized mattress from Costco online and love it. The old one was so bad, it would have been hard for a new mattress to not surpass it, but we liked the fact that anything you buy online from Costco can be returned to the warehouse.

I was just there this morning, and bought 50 of those new hangars (velvet looking) for $19.99. BB and Beyond Me had them at 50 for $39.99. They also had two surge protection strips (one where the plug ins swiveled to accomodate bulky three pronged plugs) for $19.99 (BBB was selling a single one for $19.99).

I was at Costco for the basics, but those hangers were in tons of people’s carts.

I think the birthday cakes are awesome, reasonable and feed a small army. They often have Lily Pulitzer dresses for little girls at an awesome price. (I love dressing my little girl!)

Yesterday I bought a 3month supply of Frontline for Cats, $23.99. I had seen the Dogs Frontline before but not cats. I just checked Petco - $37.99 internet special.

Excellent buy!

"The frozen cream puff thingies are fabulous, too! " - Absolutely! And regular vanila ice cream! I do not go to my previous favorate ice cream place anymore, all brands taste inferior compare to Costco, and I am not even vanila fan, I wish they have chocolate, though.

Yes, that Kirkland vanilla ice cream is killer! You get two tubs, but it gets eaten as fast as one!!! :)

The simpler question is what NOT to buy at Costco. I buy a lot there–it was very good when the kids were home & in sports. Now that it’s generally just hubby & me, we have to pay more attention to portion sizes. If you buy TONS of whatever & don’t need that much so you end up giving it away, it really isn’t a savings. I like shopping with family & friends so we can split larger sized items. It is the closest grocery store to my house–a 5 minute drive. I buy Soy & Rice milk cases there. I also love their Rx glasses & contacts and clothing (when they have our sizes–they are starting to focus on larger sizes so it’s harder & harder to find our size).

We have bought our computers & laptops from Costco & I LOVE their exchange & return policy as well as the one year of extended warranty you get if you use the AmEx business card from Costco. We have found it invaluable with ailing computers.

Have bought lots of gifts at Costco because its easy for others to return/exchange. Gift cards there are amazing–we purchased $100 worth of Godiva gift cards–4 @ $25 for $40 total!

They have terriffic markdowns when they’re discontinuing items.

I admit I generally end up going to Costco several times/week. Their hot ready-to-eat whole chicken is a great way to have a bunch of meals for us at a low price.

Just tried their New York Cheesecake for a dinner party, sinfully delicious, esp with fresh picked berries!

I never seem to see the discounted stuff…is there a spot where they usually showcase it? Front of the store? Back of the store???

I did see the Godiva GC’s when someone mentioned it on CC…

I’m curious about the Rx glasses - S needs a new pair for around the house when he doesn’t have his contacts in…are they cheaper and quick turnaround??? Do you just walk in and get fitted?
