What do you buy at Whole Foods?

We do most of our shopping at our local farmer’s market (outstanding!) and our local food co-op, which has a better selection of locally grown/organic produce, better bulk foods, and generally cheaper prices on just about everything than Whole Foods. We do go to Whole Foods for fresh fish; they carry a wide selection, it’s very fresh, and they do a much better job than their competitors at labeling which fish and seafoods are rated “sustainable.” They also have a wider organic meat selection than the farmer’s market, our food co-op, or standard grocery store competitors, so we do buy certain cuts of fresh meat there. And there are a couple of cheeses we like that are always in stock at WF. Once we’re there we might add a few items, but it’s usually a special trip for a particular fish, seafood, meat, or cheese item that gets us in the door at WF.

I gave up sodas a month or so ago when I gave up caffiene and HFCS but occasionally I crave a soda - WF house brand “cola” is made with sugar and no caffiene and fills the need without being as bad as mainstream soda (and I recognize the ingredients!). They also have a good ginger-ale with real ginger which the kids enjoy when they have stomach issues.
