Car Transporters. Fred @Robertson Transport, I believe.
Actually happened because driver called and asked to pick up car here on West Coast a day earlier than scheduled. Told him, no, because goskid wouldn’t be flying in until X day and then had to get to his college in Timbuktu in order to meet truck. Driver offered to meet goskid at airport, since it was his last car to deliver, and airport was near driver’s home base (vs. college 2 hours away). We obviously had to keep in touch with driver…and he did lots of finger crossing that plane was on time, or he would have had to wait.
Terrific for goskid, as he did not have to wait for, nor schlep all his fall semester luggage on the shuttle.

Thank you, gosmom. That worked out well for your son.

My 18 yr old will be driving his car back to college at the end of the summer (from TX to NJ). I would like him to take a friend along, but I’m also fine if he wants to drive it himself. Both of my kids have rented hotel rooms on their own at 18, so I’m not too worried about it. My biggest worry is the car breaking down - but we do have AAA.

For older D, I drove a car (TX to DC) to her and then flew home. I enjoyed the drive (and seeing my D at the end of it).

After much discussion, it will be a bicycle. Shipping the car would be most economical but my kid couldn’t help feeling rather immodest to welcome a delivery truck of her car for a temporary use. She will get a bicycle at a thrift shop and donate it when she’s done.
