^^^My husband’s home office has a wall of framed maps, old and new. He loves maps. At this point, he has more maps than wall space!
Our kitchen table has a glass top that sits on a wood/chrome pedestal. I keep a small plant (succulent) as a centerpiece and use Chilewitch placemats. I put the placemats away after eating.
Oh, I like the idea of a succulent plant. Dark burnt orange, not big nor heavy, low maintenance, colorful…thanks for that idea. I’m going to the garden center.
I always keep a vase with fresh flowers on my bar-height kitchen table. For this past Christmas, D went to a pottery class and made me a beautiful vase which is what I am now using. Fresh flowers every two weeks is a gift to myself when I’m grocery shopping and well worth the $10 I spend each time. In the summer I try to fresh pick my flowers.
I also have a three-stool peninsula (bar) that divides the kitchen area and living area and that is where homework and gabbing takes place. The only time we use the kitchen table is when both kids are home, Christmas morning breakfast, and when my girlfriends came over to have a drink and chat. Very casual gathering spot.
No dining room.
