What do you use for storing leftovers in your fridge?

Because the dome collapses flat, I store it standing on its edge in the cabinet where the Pyrex is kept. I don’t see why you couldn’t keep it in the microwave, though. It might jog your husband’s memory when he opens the door and sees it in there!

@colorado_mom, thanks for the link to the pair of ribbed Pyrex bowls on ebay. They are just what I want and better than the prices when I was looking (one, alone, cost about the total here). Made my day, at least so far!

I also like the idea of those Brilliance containers!

I got my dome at IKEA, than saw that they are sold at the supermarket. Nothing fancy, but works perfectly. I’ve given as gift.

Costco sells Oxo soft works 9piece POP container set. I believe it is $60 or 70. (My DIL asked for them for their anniversary.)

@smdur1970 - My ebay link was just for reference (and possible help to people that like to shop at thrift shops). I don’t think it has lids… though you can purchase them from amazon.

I use a lot of wide mouth canning jars in a variety of sizes. Love them. Lately, I’ve been collecting all sizes of those jars with the rubber rings and locking lids. Cheap at Goodwill, Value Village, etc. I have to restock my supply frequently since my kids take leftovers in them after family meals, but somehow never manage to return them.

For other storage, I have the same Rubbermaid set as @BunsenBurner. Love them because each lid fits two sizes of containers, and they stack really well. However, based on some things I have learned about the toxicity of all the bisphenols that replaced BPA but aren’t banned yet, I am going to replace all of those plastic containers with glass in the next few weeks. (Link to the original study in JAMA is in the article)

Costco has had a set of ribbed Pyrex bowls with lids recently, including a $5 off coupon over the summer, 4 bowls, 4 lids, pretty straight sides so better efficiency of storage space.

I use snapware glass containers with lids that have a gasket and lock on and have a gasket. I also have a small Pyrex loaf pan set with both glass and silicone covers. That usually is enough. Rarely we also use bowls and foil or plastic wrap. We donated most of our Tupperware.

That’s okay, I have a couple of lids for the one that broke!

I got rid of most of my tupperware and use the Rubbermaid Brilliance containers. Love them. They are clear, stackable and spill proof. I also use the collapsible Tovolo domes to cover food in microwave. I have given many of those as gifts as well.

Tupperware stock is up 35% since everyone is staying home and cooking (apparently massive amounts of food that then needs to be stored).

We have one tiny Brilliance container because someone gave us something in it. It is definitely the favorite container for storage. Not sure we’ve microwaved in it, mostly because it is pretty small so usually stores the left over spoonful of salad or tuna. We do like it.

Ok, I just ordered a set of Rubbermaid brilliance for my cousin. I hope she enjoys

Pyrex with lids and Snapware/Glasslock containers.

Leftovers, you have leftovers?

DH refuses to eat leftovers so, at the cleanup of each meal, all dishes/pots/pans, etc. are scraped and cleaned.

I use Pyrex, Rubbermaid, or Tupperware for any, ahem, things that need to be transferred to the fridge.

I use Ziploc for fridge storage - large rectangle, medium square and Twist 'n Loc tall rounds (for soup). I got rid of all mismatched worn out items some years ago and use these exclusively. We always put leftovers on a plate or in a bowl to reheat.

“DH refuses to eat leftovers” - Some people prefer variety. But cooking-double can be quite an efficiency. Consider freezing what is left for future lunches (single serving) or dinner. Things like lasagna might actually taste better after defrost and reheat.

We have figured how to make meats quite rare for better reheating. Leftovers are a great favorite in our household, as long as we all liked the original dish.

We like the oxo glass containers for storage although the lids can be a little tricky to get off from time to time. They’ve been durable and stain proof and I like that they are glass - not just for the microwave but so we can see what’s in them. I hate "discovering " something I would have enjoyed but lost in the fridge!

We don’t mind leftovers at all. It means one less day of cooking.

I don’t mind having the exact same meal twice. If I need to go beyond that, I like to morph. I made two pork tenderloins in my IP. Having that two times with roasted veggies and mashed potatoes is fine. Beyond that, any leftover meat needs to something else. I made Cuban sandwiches last night.

I am thankful that dh embraces leftovers, as I know not everyone does.

I am now kind of inspired to make lasagna and freeze a bunch of portions!
