My roommate and I close the blinds of our dorm and turn the AC up so it’s freezing. That’s how we minimize distractions and get our **** done when it comes to crunch time :p. Throwing Ramen noodles at one another has been known to work too.

I have wanted to get out of the State that I currently live in for around the past 6-7 years.

I couldn’t afford out of state tuition so I have to stay here for Undergraduate Study.

In Graduate School, assuming that I get fellowships and assistantships I will be able to move out.

That and the fact that I have always wanted to learn something while attending school. The lack of intellectual interest from my peers only motivates me more.

succeeding is fun , kind of like leveling up in world of warcraft

I realize that I have once chance to get good grades, so I do my best.

I am also very competitive, I want to have the highest grade in all my classes. I don’t care who knows though, I do it all for myself. I don’t care what my parents think, what my friends think, nobody.

I also want to do something important in life and feel that to do so, I need to be a step above, to know more than the average person. I have long term goals in mind, where I want to work and what I want to do. This is HUGE. Knowing that school will be over soon and you can move on to your true goal. Thinking about the future and where I want to be in a couple years always helps me pull through tough times.

I TOTALLY agree with this! Some people love retail, but it’s just not something I personally want to do for the rest of my life. There’s been no better motivation to get me to stay in school and graduate than working in a crazy retail environment!

What drives me to success: I would say my past, present and future.

What drives me… ever since i can remember my mom and dad have worked more than one job to take care of us, so im going to pay them back.

All the sacrifices my parents have made to get me and my siblings where I am today. They’ve made it their mission to get us a good life, and the point has come where they’ve done all they can and now it’s all up to me. I can’t let them down, so that’s my main motivation.

But also, sometimes I think about the fact that we all only have this one life and how much I’d hate to have to spend it not doing anything meaningful. I don’t want to waste my life having to be a waitress. The idea of living my life with that kind of job and lack of contribution to anything and then dying not having done anything noteworthy or leaving any sort of mark is just depressing.

Academic curiosity. I always wanted to know how to compute foams. That’s a bit embarassing, but that idea always helps me to find something useful in my classes.

Escaping poverty. I once lived on 20€ a month, I once had only 30 cent in my pockets, and I had the crappiest of all jobs- cleaning. There’s no way I’m going back to that.

I want a family, and I do want to provide for them. (Of course, I want a smart wife who works. I don’t believe in the old patters…) Personally, I have very few needs (place to live, warm shower, warm clothing, food), but it’s different with a family

I do not like feeling stupid. I’ve got no problems if a grade turns out bad, but I really enjoy having useful skills.
