What happened to the student? Did he or she have to wait a year and re-apply?

The OP has a 2090 (superscored) SAT.

OP, tell us…what are your stats? Are an URM? Athlete?

Just want everyone to know that I am learning a lot from this thread.

Hey Dad II! Any news you care to share about your D? Hope she’s received some “fat” envelopes in the last few days, or is she still waiting to hear?

At DS1’s school, there’s a 15-business day processing lag for transcripts (not counting school holidays), etc. so one must be ready to pull the trigger on RD apps by 12/1 (at least to the point of knowing where recs, transcripts, etc. need to go), even if there are no EA/ED results yet.

Mathson had all the school stuff and teacher recommendations sent off before he heard from the EA schools, but he had a really hard time working on the rest of those other applications until he got his deferrals.

D submitted most apps in this 2 week window - even though she did not apply anywhere ED.

Student had to re-apply the following year–ended up doing a gap year.

OP…if you are still reading this thread…please take note of this experience of someone else who had chosen the same path as you have and please take heed:

There is the answer to your question with a REAL account.

not sure if this has already been said, but some schools (like Duke) require you to take back any pending applications if you get accepted Early Decision UNLESS you’re applying for financial aid, in which case you’re allowed to wait for Duke’s financial aid decision.

This thread is a year and a half old. I doubt the OP is watching any longer.

LOL when old thread are resurrected! I’ve caught myself reading a few.

I guess that’s why all the ice cream has melted. :(

What??! I just spent half an hour reading all this and I don’t get to find out what happened?

It’s College CONFIDENTIAL here. I’ve learned over the years that we often don’t get to find out what happened in individual anecdotes posted on these forums.

well, yes, I know that. Duh. But really, posters who get people all involved in their business have an obligation to tell us how it all turns out. And I’m only half kidding.

mousegray: in an attempt to get out of her ED contract, cogito e-mailed the LAC adcom and pointed them to this thread. They happily released her from her contract. She then filled out the acceptance form she received from Harvard, only to be met at the mailbox by a very disappointed mailman who handed her a thin envelope from Harvard. Over the following days, six more thin envelopes arrived from other colleges around the country. Cogito now works at the neighborhood car wash and steals small valuables from ashtrays.

Or write your own! :-)

ok… that was pretty funny spdf
