What exactly is "the slate"?

no, just the “billions” in Florida lol.

I’m screwed—I know I’m smarter than the valedictorian, but she’s applying, and is hispanic. I have better test scores, but theyre number 1. im 15. they’ve taken more clubs/awards and programs then I have, so I’m screwed. and YALE is my absolute number 1.

I understand about being mad that she’s hispanic…in Florida white and black people are actually the minority…well i am in my school…76% hispanic.

hispanic valedictorian? *any adcom drools…

i think the slate is only really useful for schools that are feeders because they consistently have numerous apps. it can compare for some other school with like 2-3 applicants, but i doubt it meanbs much

I know I’m smarter than the valedictorian, but she’s applying…

Your modesty will be your hook! :)

Your modesty will be your hook!

that sounds like something youd find in a fortune cookie…

Did you take harder classes than she did? We don’t have weighed GPA here and I’m ranked 16th, but I’ve taken a lot more honors/advanced/AP classes than anyone else in my school, so my counselor brought that up in a letter.

My school is not weighted, but it doesn’t matter because each year, the top 10 students are those with full IB classes. In my school, people in easier classes still don’t get as high grades.
