What face cream do you use? (and can you recommend one for me?)

The one thing I will always splurge on? A $15 tube of Lansinoh pure grade lanolin used by breastfeeding mothers on sore nipples. It is absolutely the best stuff for dry/chapped lips. Someone clued me in to this 20+ years ago, and I always make sure I have some at home, in my purse, and in my car. I always put some on at bedtime (which has become interesting, because my dog really likes the smell - yea, it’s from sheep so it gets his attention!). When D moved out to CA, where it is very dry, I finally convinced her to use it because she gets very dry lips. I’ve probably tried a dozen other lip products and have not liked any near as much as the Lansinoh. Sometimes I get real dry spots on the stop of my had between my thumb and forefinger - I’ll put a dab of Lansinoh on it and it’s gone in a day. The only problem is that, in the winter time, the product is much harder in the tube; in warmer weather, it softens up and is easier to get out.

But most people consider $15 to be a lot of money for a tube of lip product that’s not makeup.

@thumper1: I used Lubriderm for 35 years. Because of my rosacea, my derm just told me to switch to CeraVe. @-)

Apparently it doesn’t “clog your pores,” according to my derm. The jury’s still out.

My dermatologist has suggested a couple of things. Cera Ve as basic moisturizer ($12-$15 at drug store for a 8-10 oz bottle), Aqua Glycolic Face Cream (in the round tub)–order from Costco or Amazon—maybe $17-$20 for two ounces, but lasts a long time, and more recently, a 1/4 of 1 percent Retin-A. My skin can only handle the Retin-A every few days and I use the Cera Ve on other days. The Aqua Gylcolic offered slight exfoliation but nothing like the Retin-A.

Have you tried Neutrogena Faces sunscreen? I don’t wear make-up but have fairly sensitive and very pale skin.

My dermatologist has always recommended CeraVe. It comes in a large jar that lasts forever. I have had zero skin issues for the past several years since I have been using it.

This is the one I use:

I’m really trying to find products without silicone, as I find it seems to be drying.
Dimethicone = silicone.

My mother developed an allergy to sunscreen, and can’t use it any longer. My skin is somewhat sensitive. I have liked Simple Skincare Replenishing Rich Moisturizer - they have a formula without sunscreen (and one with). It’s light and inexpensive:

I’m currently using Advanced Clinicals AHA, which I got at TJ Maxx for around $5: http://www.advancedclinicals.com/body/advanced-clinicals-alpha-hydroxy-acid-cream

I’m a red head with very sensitive skin. I’d been using Jan Marini, a line you can get at dr’s offices or spas. People noticed and commented often about how great my skin looked. However about 2 months the products suddenly starting burning my skin. I guess they worked too well! I’ve stopped that and started using the Caudalie wash and sorbet moisturizer. My skin’s calmer, and I’ll probably start using the Marini products sparingly along with the Caudalie. I also agree with everyone that seeing a dermatologist is a good idea.

I use Eucerin Daily Moisturizing lotion.
It’s very light, moisturizes for 24 hours and has 30 spf . The sunscreen element is important to me since I had to have a skin cancer removed from my face last spring. Really like that it’s moisturizer and sunscreen all in one.

Thanks for the referral for the Caudalie line. Sounds like a good mix of ingredients.
Now can you recommend a brown ( not brown black) mascara?

Also regarding skin texture, your skin will be smoother if you exfoliate regularly.
Exfoliation will help your skin absorb more moisture.
Along with topical products, I really like my Clairsonic.
They have face & body brushes.

I’m supposed to use face cream? Oops.

Clinique Dramatically Different has been my favorite for years.
