<p>East side of the lake, just up 34B. Pre-trip was spent at Wegmans, a near obligatory stop for many recent alumni it seems. Perfect weather for the weekend, not too hot, a few minor sprinkles here and there, but otherwise very nice.</p>

<p>I am trying to rent a lake house for my daughter’s graduation in 2011. Would you have a good rental agent I could work with. I would like a house for 8-10 people, but on the lake.</p>

<p>And not to start a flame war, but I still love how the kids from downstate drool over Wegmans as if it is unique to Ithaca.</p>
<p>A bit over the top, sure, but in my view real Cornellians drool over Gimme!, Treman Park, and the Farmers Market.</p>
<p>Ithaca wegmans is the worst one I have been to.</p>

<p>Apparently you haven’t been to a Wegmans in the Southern Tier; Hornell and Corning are really lame. Make Ithaca look good but they have no real competition. For a town it’s size Ithaca is really blessed with food choices.</p>
<p>When your local grocery store is the size of the Ithaca Wegmans’ produce section, you will be excited no matter how small of a Wegmans it is. </p>
<p>And I’ve been to substantially larger Wegmans stores, but the Ithaca one receives high marks for its dessert section and its rather large international foods section.</p>

<p>i prefer the ample room and standard selection at Tops (for general grocery shopping). </p>
<p>Wegmans is more for fancier/pickier eaters and also has a better deli/dessert area.</p>
<p>much much better deli meat selection, and generally better selection over all… good mix of high end and low end stuff… so you can have your organic itoen tea and annies pasta, as well as tostitos, ramen, and any inexpensive food that most grocery stores would offer. good varieties of sauces in the international food sections. i like to mix low cost chicken with something to make it a little less ordinary like a good gorganzola, international sauce, or veggie that isnt offered at a normal store. there is great prepared food too and a “beers of the world” selection that spans like three or 4 mini aisles!!'</p>
<p>however, its reputation as a “place to see” is kind of ridiculous, especially if you have whole foods or any higher end store near you. i dont think i would choose to make an evening of it.</p>

<p>If you are on a budget, go with a list, and shop carefully, you will find that Wegman’s is cheaper than Flops- er Tops and if you have money to burn there are more gourmet items at Wegmans. The Greenstar market coop store is good if you want to shop in an environmentally sound and politically correct manner but you will pay more for the privilege unless you are a member (not practical for a busy student).</p>
<p>sometimes things are cheaper at tops than they are at wegmans (and vice versa)
i think all the grocery stores in ithaca have a shopper’s card…so dont forget to sign up for it once you arrive in ithaca (you can order online for both tops and wegmans)</p>
<p>Wegmans has awesome sub sandwiches.</p>
<p>And the meat carving station also has awesome sandwiches.</p>

<p>The funny thing is I am about the least cynical person I know in real life.</p>
<p>everybody on here at one time was friendly and helpful. And then the stupid questions started to roll in and students suddently lost the ability to use the “search” function.</p>
