I saw the same question posted on the Bowdoin board – where I am also an interested party - and I didn’t realize that they have a host family program. I don’t think that program addresses the question here – about what to do during breaks – other than the fact that the host family could be a planning resource and idea database for an international student trying to resolve those questions. (That is, I don’t think host families in Brunswick would typically provide meals and accommodations to the hosted students.)

I wondered if Oberlin has a program and found out there is at least one. The one that I see appears to be limited to Africana students. Bowdoin’s is open to all students, with priority given to international students. Are there other host family (or equivalent) resources at Oberlin that connect students (and, in particular, international students that the OP is interested in) with town and, particularly for new students, offer a sense of connection to a familiar home environment?
