Our dyson has tube you can pull out that stretches so long you can vacuum an entire flight of stairs leaving the vacuum at the bottom. Otherwise, I would not vacuum stairs!

Cleaning the bathtub. Probably because I wait too long between cleanings and it’s a pain in the neck. A vicious circle.

Cleaning the toilet…I don’t mind doing the inside, with the brush, but hate wiping down the outside. It’s icky.

Putting away laundry. I don’t mind sorting, loading, folding…but I absolutely despise putting it away.

Grocery shopping. I hate figuring out what to buy, going to the store, carrying everything, and putting it all away when I get home. If I ever win the lottery, I’m getting a personal shopper for groceries!

“Cleaning the toilet…I don’t mind doing the inside, with the brush, but hate wiping down the outside. It’s icky.”

I agree. I think a long handled thingy with a wet anti-bacterial swishy thing at the end that after use you press a button by the handle and the wet/dirty swishy thing falls into the trash would make it a less icky job.

"Since I am doing 95% I reserve the privilege to assign all the things I find distasteful to somebody else. "

Oh wow…you’re a smart cookie to get that thinking going in your household early on! Wish I had thought of that 30 years ago.

:-<

Dusting! But I dont know why I dislike it so. I usually dont mind most chores, but I dread, loathe, avoid, hate dusting! Have dark wood furniture so it shows…Unfortunately I am the only one at the house so must face my adversion and get it done once in a while. I always dust before the kids come home to visit because if I dont, they write in it, and date the message so I cant ignore it.

Gardening. I hate it. My husband won’t do it. We pay a guy to do it. We’d rather go without groceries to pay the guy to do it.

I don’t iron duvet covers either though - I don’t have duvet covers. If I did I wouldn’t buy any that needed to be ironed.

sister - tell them to dust!

I hate emptying the dishwasher too!! H knows this and will often do it before I get a chance. I’d much rather clean out the fridge, it’s so much more rewarding I guess. You get to look at you nice clean organized fridge.

When you empty the dw you just have clean dishes.

I would rather work outside in the yard for ten hours than work inside for five.
Luckily my H doesnt care as long as there is a path to the door.
He also does his own laundry & the dishes, the garbage & picking up the dog poo.
I must have other redeeming qualities.
I am a good cook, however, I am not a fan of cooking everyday. I admit that is a part of the empty nest that is a relief since H is perfectly happy to have cold cereal or pancakes for dinner every so often. Or reservations.
We walk to the grocery store together for at least half our trips, when he comes with me, I am much more efficient instead of wandering back and forth. He also carries & puts the groceries away.
He cleans the shower which seems fair since he uses it daily for at least 30 min & I take mine at the gym. ( I think he does yoga in there) I have always gotten stuck with cleaning the toilet though.

Put me in the cleaning out the fridge group. I hate when I find something that has hidden itself and then self combusted. Ick! I do pretty much anything else. I did buy a second vacuum and keep that upstairs so I don’t have to lug one up the stairs- it is a shark navigator and is very light. I actually enjoy grocery shopping. Laundry and dishes don’t bother me but I am not fond of ironing and I try and get the shirts out of the dryer quickly.

I still don’t know how to quote, but you said: “I hate vacuuming the stairs, the machine is heavy and awkward, it hurts my back to carry it up and down the steps. I am tempted to change to hardwood stairs when the carpet is worn out, but worry about them being slippery and pricy.”

I have bare hardwood stairs and you probably have to vacuum them more often than carpeted stairs. Carpeting kind of captures the dust whereas little dust bunnies will accumulate in corners of bare stairs.

Perhaps a new vacuum would be lighter? My old Miele weighed a ton but the newer one is much lighter. I still can’t vacuum the entire flight w/o unplugging and carrying the canister up the stairs to start from the top.

Count me in as one who despises cleaning toilets. No upside.

I hate cleaning the house because it is a thankless job. It feels nice once it is done, but that last all of a few hours until the family comes home and the dog comes in. Then the whirlwind of destruction hits again and it looks as if nothing has been accomplished. I would much rather work in the yard because the cleaning and pruning all add up to making the yard look better over the long haul. The more I work in the garden, the better it looks the following week and weeks after that. I guess that is why I finally convinced my husband to get a housekeeper. That and my going back to work full time!

“I did buy a second vacuum and keep that upstairs so I don’t have to lug one up the stairs-”

Me, too. For upstairs, I got a Dyson on Black Friday cuz it was such a deal. Then, a week ago, I saw a cordless Dyson clearanced at Sams Club so I got that for downstairs (wood floors and area rugs)…but it also super for STAIRS…light and NO CORD. Yay!!

EK, me too- I like yardwork.

I just asked Mr B if be would like to try to iron a duvet cover. He replied, “I never tried that, but I do not think that I will enjoy it” LOL.

We are heading out to a local appliance store to get a new vacuum cleaner, because I accidentally killed my favorite Dyson. :(

I’ll add cleaning the shower/tub to my list. I usually do it on the weekend. Today I came home from work, and D2 who has had so many snow days and is going looney, had cleaned the whole main bath without prompting - love that girl!!! :)

I hate meal planning - so hard to satisfy everyone.

Don’t mind the daily stuff around a kitchen. Don’t mind laundry. Hate, hate dusting and vacuuming and bathrooms cause it’s tedious and only stays nice for a day. I want a housekeeper who comes every day. Really hate dusting and washing wooden blinds which are in every window of my house!!! Soooo time consuming.

And I really messed up years ago by assuming too many household responsibilities.

“And I really messed up years ago by assuming too many household responsibilities.”

Guilty, too.

I’m very concerned that when H retires, he’s not going to do a dang thing around the house except take out the trash.

I also hate washing pots. I’ve taken special notice of pots that now say Dishwasher Safe.

For those who hate cleaning showers - Years ago I figured out that Head & Shoulders shampoo and a scrub brush are incredibly effective at cleaning both the shower as well as the glass (literally makes it sparkle), so I actually scrub the shower while I am taking one.
