What hurricane preparedness actions are needed up the East Coast?

^^Good one!

^^^^Love it.

I love that…gotta steal it.

Like y’all don’t have a stash of AA batteries nobody else knows about…

Absolutely posting that on my fb. Cracking me up.

I can’t help but feel sorry for all the weddings that were planned along the East Coast for this weekend. The number of wedding stories/pictures I’ve seen or heard about online being canceled, rescheduled, etc. is so sad. And the number of couples who assumed they would be taking their wedding photos on the beach… well, that sucks!

I was pooh-poohing the storm earlier today, saying that people are overreacting, but now it’s raging outside, and I’m scared!

^ I haven’t heard from the kids, they haven’t responded to a text. How bad is it? And isn’t the worst not expected for 4 or 5 more hours? Have you lost power?
Sorry you’re having to go through this.

Where are the kids over30?

Near Times Square. One just called with a very bad connection, but said they were fine so far, just some rain.

The lights were flickering, but we haven’t lost power yet. It’s hard to sleep with all that noise outside! Glad your kids are fine!

Hard rain and 40mph wind has begun here in northern part of metro New York. As for Pennsylvania Station (no railroad or subway service) at midtown Manhattan, radio reports state that the Nathan’s Hot Dog stand is open. So if the Coney Island Nathan’s is underwater, head to Manhattan. It’s only a 25 mile walk!

Heavy rain and wind just started here in NH. I had a look at the hourly forecast and the wind should be 20 to 40 mph. The catchment basin should be interesting today. I have never seen it fill up.

Whoa. Look at the precipitous drop in the air pressure-- and the rise in the water levels at the Battery [Composite Plot](http://www.tidesonline.nos.noaa.gov/plotcomp.shtml?station_info=8518750+The+Battery,+NY)

Oh good-- its now “just” a tropical storm…
Anyone feeling all that much better?

South Jersey faired well, big sigh. No electricity still in our neighborhood, but 3 miles away they are fine. Looks like a typical Nor’easter hit- random trees down, limbs down all over the place. Hairy time spent in basement last night during tornado warnings, but no complaints from this SouthJerseyian!!! Good bye Irene…

Got a LBI report from someone who didn’t evacuate. LBI is fine, they didn’t even lose power. Heard my house is in good shape. Whew…

Lots of trees down in my town, many people without power (we’re still on) and severe flooding all around. Our biggest issue is boil water alert, as pumping station was flooded. No idea how long that will last.

Sounds like houses in Ocean Grove spared, but beach is a mess. Waiting for updates on pier, boardwalk & jetties.

Also, tidal flooding in Southeastern Virginia. Our crawlspace flooded (as it did in the 09’ n’oreaster). Have the ServPro people coming this morning to deal with the water issues. Insulation, ductwork, electrical work will also have to be done again. It was a $15000 flood insurance claim last time in November 09’ and took a month to get everything done. Ugh! Didn’t expect to be dealing with this again so soon.

We’ve had a little flickering but no outages. I checked the hourly forecast again and we’re not even at a Tropical Storm rating now - winds will be under 37 MPH. The danger in our area now is just flooding. Heading out to hit some tennis balls now. I’ll check the catchment basin.
