What if I'm too old and dumb for med school

Because I’m not stupid. There are people with WORSE grades than me who are in medical school.

I went to a top UC (either Berkeley or UCLA; I won’t say which), not Snoozeville Beer Kegville State. I’ve NEVER gotten a C in any class. The worst grade I got was a B- in Organic Chemistry 1. Moreover, I have greatly improved my STEM abilities and have gotten straight A+ grades in my postbacc in both accounting and science/math.

Terrific. So why are you posting on an anonymous message board? If you’ve straightened out your academic challenges, finish your current courses, get a job or a long term volunteer gig working with vulnerable populations, get started prepping for the MCAT’s. What are you hoping to accomplish with your thread?

I can vouch for this. Still paying back loans 25 years out.

Luckily, I’m very frugal and have hefty savings, in addition to no college debt because of my wonderful, generous parents.

Because of grief over lost time and youth? I spent ages 18-25 thinking I was too stupid for medicine.

If, if this is real, you are still grieving.

To be able to get on the calendars of that many therapists, to have enough appointments to see if their style and treatment modality seem to be productive/a fit for you, and if you were using your insurance (especially with the psychiatrists) you’d see they aren’t in it for the money!

Well…if you have $400,000 in the bank after having graduated from undergrad, you are doing FAR better than most resident physicians, and fellows.
