My SATs are average for the school (1410), but my GPA is slightly below average. The school is UVA.

ats. Lots of tales of confused parent alums. The school puts a lot of effort into instate diversity, IMO. Wait and see. But be wise, in the meantime. Have your safeties lined up. Are you from Northern Va?

I am not from Northern Va. I don’t want to put too much detail on here because I’m afraid I might imperil my CC for telling me what the admissions person mentioned.
Ok, but are you now saying you spoke with an adcom? Anyway, all you can do is wait and be wise about a backup plan.
No, I’m saying my college counselor spoke with him/her and mentioned the “courtesy defer” thing to me afterwards. CC seemed a little shaky on what it meant as well. And of course I did apply to other schools… I’m just really depressed if UVA already knows they’re just gonna reject me. I’ll try to remember to update this thread with the result in April.
