College of the Ozarks is very specific in the type of students it wants so check it out thoroughly - a student who finds the WV atmosphere ‘toxic’ would likely have trouble fitting in.
Note that the environment in Morgantown and at Shepherd University differs from the rest of the state.
Berea is a great choice if your parents make 65k or less annual income. You’re not allowed to apply otherwise.
Study for the August sat AND the September act. Use books- Erica Melzer for English and reading, pwn the sat math, plus Khan academy.
Going out of state will depend on your test scores so this should very important.
(Costs matter: you’re not allowed to borrow more than 5.5k and most colleges don’t “meet need”.)
History majors tend to be well catered to at LACs. Fortunately for you quite a few LACs are test optional.
Catholic colleges and LACs tend to have good Classics dept.
For a future classics or history major, your senior year schedule should include:
- AP English language, AP English literature, or honors English
- French 3
- AP world history
- some math (algebra2, precalculus, statistics…)
- AP art history or art history
- some science
- a humanities or social science elective, OR of offered through virtual school Latin 1 online (<best choice)
If your schedule doesn’t resemble that one, contact your GC to change it.
Universities messaging you are just doing marketing: they contracted a third party to email or send mailings to all students who fall within a certain range of test scores or within a certain geographic area.
Fill out the “request info form” on all colleges listed on this thread.
Look into UScranton, Shepherd University, WVU, UDayton, John Caroll university, Xavier university of Cincinnati, College for Wooster, Allegheny college, Ohio Wesleyan, Lycoming college, Lebanon Valley, LaSalle university, Sweet Briar (if you’re a girl), Salem College (if you’re a girl), Hollins College (if you’re a girl), Virginia Wesleyan.
