What is charisma? Which person has it?

I don’t know these guys form Adam and am not a Les Miz aficionado. I have only seen the recent movie version. White Shirt Guy has the better voice, guy #1 to me is definitely the most charismatic in that I would watch him sing and be fixed on his performance no matter what the voice.

Bill Clinton and Arnold Palmer probably have the most charisma of anybody I have seen up close. A friend went to a party in Silicon Valley with plenty of CEOs but he said George Bush had the most charisma of anybody at the party.
I used to occasionally see Robert Redford and he has a ton of charisma.

I don’t know about charisma but Joe Pass spoke to me with his playing and his personality.

I talked to Shirley Temple once. I don’t know about charisma but her dimples were amazing.

@musicprnt ---- I was going to mention Placido Domingo. I always loved his earlier recordings and was reticent about seeing him here in LA in 2012 when he was performing I Due Foscari (you know, faded glory and all that)
But oh brother he OWNED the stage and the entire audience. It was charisma. You couldn’t keep your eyes off of him.

As a kid I liked to read George Frazier’s columns in the Boston Globe about the Spanish word duende. He called it an irresistible magnetism, star quality, style, panache, and charisma to the nth degree. Back in the 1940’s and 1950’s the word they had used was cool.

As Frazier noted, “Duende is so difficult to define, but when it is there it is unmistakable, inspiring our awe, quickening our memory. To observe someone who has it is to feel icy fingers running up and down our spine.”

He felt that Paul Newman had it, and Robert Redford didn’t. Ted Williams had it, and Stan Musial didn’t. I would have liked to have read his thoughts about who in the current generation has duende.

I used to watch the Mickey Mouse Club on television when I was 4 or 5. In my opinion, Annette Funicello had a great deal of charisma already as a 12 year old. Anyone else agree, or is this just me?

Annette was hot.

I attended a conference and one of my fellow attendees had been a member of the Mickey Mouse Club towards the tail end of the television series. She was pretty but I didn’t think she had this kind of charisma. At lunchtime I stared at her too much trying to recall her face on the television show.

The following year one of my lunch partners was a former Miss Pennsylvania. I admit to staring at her quite a bit too.
