I haven’t had one for about a month now (broken, contract isn’t up), and it’s been pretty difficult. I have nothing to put in the ‘cell phone number’ box when asked. I still have friends try to text or call me in vain, I have to borrow friends’ cell phones constantly for calls that are ACTUALLY important. Those random spaces of time if you show up early somewhere or something sure get long and awkward. Just yesterday I waited outside a theatre alone for an 90 MINUTES because I didn’t know that the start time from rehearsal was moved from 4 to 5:30, that information had been communicated by text message.

My car is a graveyard of printed out Mapquest directions which offer no help if I miss an exit or mess up, so I’m getting lost a LOT. Here’s another one, my car broke down at the side of the interstate recently and I had to walk about a mile next to the highway and down an off-ramp to nearest gas station and then get charged a dollar to use their phone.

It’s a lot more difficult than not having a Facebook. It’s seriously affecting my quality of life, and who knows what important calls I may never receive. Maybe it would be easier if you never had one and were used to it, but I’m really, really starting to get sick of it. Screw modern technology.
