Agreed. We’ve become and Oprah-watching, Jerry Springer-sensationalized nation. We can’t wait for the next person’s life to be ruined, unless of course it is our candidate and then it is the other sides fault for slandering them.

Well said. … You hit the nail right on the head, pmrlcomm.

As far as Obama’s work goes, I’m too lazy to look it up now, but wasn’t there something in The New Yorker’s article about how his mentor had basically tacked his name onto any legislation in the Illinois Senate. Being groomed for the next office, I wonder if a similar phenom happened in the U.S. Senate? Apologies if this question seems grossly out of line, I’ve just grown very cynical in my old age.

It pretty much fits with the overall mentality of what’s going on.

Who knows? I doubt there’s much truth to that, though. Obama is smart and ambitious. I don’t imagine he was out lounging by the pool, eating bon-bons, while someone else did all the work on his behalf. Say what you will about him, but he doesn’t strike me as a lazy guy.

H_K - this article (predates New Yorker) describes firsthand what you’re referring to about Obama’s activities in the Illinois Legislature & his [illegitimate] rise to power.

My goodness! Obama sounds just like McCain in this article. He screams profanities at people when he’s mad! Can’t have that. We’d all better switch our votes to Nader or Barr. :D

That was a very well written article:

Beyond the insider-scoop that I had never heard of, it was an interesting story and experience and a very old-time way to do journalism.

You feel it.

.

I doubt anyone in a high office can be called lazy. As for me, procrastinating starting my real, non-CC day, that’s another story…

I hear ya, Hard_Knocks. I’m a freelance writer and, ostensibly, I’m supposed to be working right now. However, my current article is minimized so that I can engage in CC banter. Would somebody PLEASE force me to get back to work!!

Hindoo Ron Paul would be a better switch!

How did I forget about him? Didn’t he suspend his campaign?

Yes, suspend…not end!

What a clever man. :)

What’s your article about, Hinny?

Reminds me of Stanford’s policy. You haven’t dropped out, you’ve merely stopped out.
:)

It’s a weekly historical/fluff piece I do for a horse racing magazine. (“Hindoo,” by the way, was the 1881 Kentucky Derby winner.) One of the fun things I do, besides arguing on CC.

Interesting! (I wondered about your screen name - shoulda googled it - I’m embarrassed I didn’t know that bit of trivia. Thanks for telling me, now no one will EVER beat me in Trivial Pursuit! Or maybe it’ll win me a million on Jeopardy!).

BTW, In case y’all missed this:

Ahem. What was McCain thinking?
