<p>as a freshman girl I got warned to stay away from SAE and Lambda Chi, got told not even to go near the houses, the guys aren’t good… well they didn’t exactly use those words, but um I’m not going to repeat what the girl actually said.</p>
<p>I don’t think SAE was even allowed to take a pledge class this year</p>

<h2>any attempts to list houses in any sort of order is just ridiculous but here is a more accurate breakdown</h2>
<p>I will not categorize frats into ‘rankings’. that would not be constructive. rather, i will categorize the frats into various personalty types. this will give the prospective rushee a better perception of what frat he will ‘fit into’ best. after all, its all about fit, right? RIght. </p>
<p>Also, I will only speak on frats I have personal experience with. It would be unfair and innacurate to judge those I dont know. </p>
<p>The categories are: </p>
<p>The True Frats: SAE, Sigma Nu, ATO, Pike; My favorite kind of frat, these guys do have tendancy to frat hard. Heavy boozers, they all ‘haze’ (whatever your definition of hazing is) and generally have truly strong brotherhoods. Great parties all around. I was a memember of one of these. So was my older brother. If you want a true greek experience, then join one of these. </p>
<p>The Animal House Party Frats: Phi Psi, ZBT, AEPi; Party, party, and more party. thats about it. weak brother hoods, general stupidity…but they have the best registered parties on the row that tend to pull the most *****ezzzz, not the prettiest, mind you. quantity, not quality. If your looking for a dance party, then your best bet is one of these guys, as partying is their highest priority. </p>
<p>The Face Guys: Sigma Chi, Lambda Chi; the pretteist boys on the row. they pull high quality chicks. well, most of the time anyway. Dont rush these guys if your ugly, as you probably wont get a bid. Although, I must say, the dudes at USC are getting uglier by the academic year, so who knows. Sigma chi would also be categorizeid as a True Frat, as they have the substance to back up their pretty boy image. BUT, they will still take a stud with no personality over a quility a guy that happens to be ugly, which is weak. </p>
<p>The New Kids on the Block: Phi Delt, Beta; once great houses but kicked of for numerous infractions and generally ***<strong><em>-bagery. Beta was infamous for SICK parties and general cool-factor. but a bad coke habit changed all that. new beta is kinda different, and ill explain in detail. same thing iwth phi delt, they once had the most *</em></strong>*en house on the row (if anybody knows the various themed and named rooms, you would know why). The new reincarnations of these frats are COMPLETELY different than their former selves. </p>
<p>The guys that are in the frats within the various group could conceivably ‘switch’ with other guys in their respective groups, and usually you would not be able to tell the difference. thats how accurate those groupings are.

<p>SAE: good ole country conservatives boys. they like to act like country music lovin hicks and only vote republican. whatever floats your boat, fellas. for most of my experience with USC’s greek system, these guys have been considered as the top house. not sure why. they do have some studs. but most of their memebership heavily consists of has-been high school athletes. in general, cool and atheltic, guys. real alpha male. REAL fun times at this house. and a genuine brotherhood, one of the strongest on the row. they do ‘haze’ harder than most. no, they dont check your tax returns. yes, they do prefer guys with some kind of ‘rich old money pedigree’, which is easy to find at USC. BALLER alumni, but not as baller as most think. they dont tend to have registered parties, but the number of exchanges they have makes up for that fact. some say SAE is racist. probably true, more-so in the past than now. i have yet to see a non-white SAE guy. probably the most traditional frat. </p>
<p>ATO: a couple of things you need to know about them: they ‘haze’ the hardest and they have possibly the strongest brotherhood on the row. these guys are kind of bad ass in a scary ‘dont **** with me, i dont give a *<strong><em>’ kind of way, or did anyways. i remember when these guys were hot *</em></strong>, more so than sigma chi. but they were once great. they dont like to buy into the whole ‘greek scene’ drama. and i can respect that. they thrive off their brother hood, which is forged in a remarkably challenging pledge semester. they generally get along with other houses. they use to have an annual party with pi phi, but now they do it with dg, probably b/c dg is cuter, but that is debatable. otherwise, a generally solid house. generally athletic. they do their bid dinners at jonathan club, which is baller, and they have baller alumni. in fact, i think they do it with sigma nu. kinda on the decline as they dont have the ‘presence’ or numbers they once had, we’ll see what happens. </p>
<p>Pike: You could consider these guys, SAE Lite. If you were to take a lambda chi guy and mix him in a pot with an ATO, you would get a pike. meathead types. really fun group. They also haze, almost as much as ATO. sometimes obnoxious, but usually in a pretty *<strong><em>in fun way. their old house was *</em></strong>*in, their new one kind of looks like a wanna be apt building, but atleats it has a big court yard for parties. pike lafd is their ‘philanthropic’ event, if you could even call it philanthropy, but its one of the best on the row, mostly bc its a party masking as a philanthropy. again, another solid house with an over all good rep. pretty good racial diversity too. genuine and strong brotherhood. and they do have a groupie following with a couple of girls. they usually dont have a problem pulling girls. </p>
<p>Sigma Nu: these guys were once kicked off in the 90’s, they were once known as ‘sigma who?’. have climbed back into mix since. i like these guys. not to arragont or obnoxious as the other true frats, but cool in their own way. they get along with others in the greek system. while they dont pull girls like rambda-guy or sigma gay, that doesnt matter bc the guys always have a good experience among themselves. they combine their hazing with alcohol, which is not really cool, but oh well. guys in this house tend have $$$, just look at the mad russian and his ‘grey-goose’ parties. although i think he graduated, so no more goose. these guys seem on the upswing, in 2007 atleast, and worth checking out. need to get rid of that volley ball court though. </p>

<p>Phi Psi: Remarkably, this ‘genious’ group some how finds new and creative ways to get themselves consistenlty kicked off campus. even more remarkable still is that these guys come back. seriously if these guys were perhaps a little bit brighter, they might take top accolades among all the frats. but their not, so they wont. the first time i hooked up with a chick at USC was at the phi psi house. despite that, i dont really like them. but to each his own. and if you like fun registered parties, then this is your house, as they have the best. they are also pretty racially diverse. i got a bid here but didnt accept, and i am glad, bc they got booted. they have pretty nice house which is new on the inside, but they trash the **** out of it, which is a pity. being a phi psi guy is fun, but the experience may not last long. i odnt think they have stayed on campus for more than 4 yrs with out getting into social probabotion or getting booted completely. i remember when i was in highshcool, they had their charter suspened. hey phi pse, go easy on those 4:20 parties. </p>
<p>ZBT: wannabe phi psi. their old nick name was ‘Zero **<strong><em>es There’, hahah sad. for a loooooong time they had no presence on the row, bc they dint have a house on the row. but they moved in to pi kappa’s old house when pi kappa got booted. then thinsg took a 180 degree turn for zbt. before they were guys that had a lot of mediocre parties that never had cute girls. now, they still have mediocre parties but maybe a few more ugly girls. i have mixed feelings about this house. on the one hand, theyre huge *</em></strong>in ****** bags that steal rushees b/c of their money location. on the other hand, they got the numbers and that is a force to be reckoned with. maybe they have changed into a real house, maybe not. but some bad news for zbt, they dont own their house so if they loose it, so goes the rep and numbers they have built. </p>
<h2>AEPi: they are a jewish version of phi psi that is not as stupid. Persian-ish, jewy types from encino/the valley with too much cash from mommy and daddy, and even more so than the typical USC student which is saying something. kinda goofy guys. kinda hyper and childish too. but they mix well with goofy and hyper immature girls they pull, which works for them. i think its weak that these guys are a ‘jewish’ frat, but i think they take non jews too. they still have pretty phat, pretty fun parties, though they have pushed the limit in the past, anybody remember their ‘anti-immigration’ party? hahah that one caused a real stir on campus. again, to each his own, if you are a jew guy thats rich and you like to party, AEpi is your house. i would regard them higher than phi psi, just a humble opinion. shalom.</h2>
<p>The Face Guys: Sigma Chi Lambda Chi </p>
<p>Sigma Chi: the current ‘flavor of the month’ house. these guys got kicked off around 1999 and came back 2001 i think. since then, ‘wow’ is all i can say. they just kinda exploded. they are the over all tops, in most regards anyways. dont know how they did it, but they did. lots of oc 'bra’s. hang ten bra, radical, tubular dood. im from oc and these guys tend to annoy me. regardless, they pull chicks, have great philanthropy that makes a lot of money, and have pretty good parties. mayhem is a trip, derby days is well organized. and they have a pretty solid brotherhood to boot. they have a couple of flaws though. one is the fact that they take face guys over real men. a pity. this is the only reason i dont consider them a True Frat. the second, is when you are at the top the only place to go is down. i have seen top houses come and go over the yrs, and sigma chi’s time may come sooner rather than later. still, they are good now which is what matters now. i dont like sigma chi simply bc its hard to find a reason to really hate them. they are too nice, like cuddly teddy bears. manly, yet sensitive. i just wanna slap em. they lack the alpha male attitude of the True Frats. these guys haze a little bit, if ever. </p>
<p>Lambda Chi: Rammed a guy, haaaa. every frat guy HATES lambda chi. in some ways, actually a lot of ways they represent the greek system in the worst way possible. yes, they have the face guys. yes, they pull chicks. and yet girls tend to hate them after figuring out lambda is out for one thing: their own dicks. still, they have potential and they still pull fyne **<strong><em>ezzz (with low self esteem). they can be seen playing with each other on weekend in their gay kiddie pool, so maybe they have some kind of freind ship with in the house. not every lambda guy is a meatheaded womanizer. only most are. some are blatant *</em></strong>***s, some are not. these guys dont haze, they dont even have pledges. they have ‘associates’ ooooooOOOoooo how proper. a lack of an organized pledge semester = little or no cohesion among brothers. despite their pretty boy rep, they are willing to take in uglies to boost numbers, as long as you are not awkward with women. if you want a house thats easy to get into and you dont want a steady g/f, this is your house. they discourage guys in their house who dont go to the gym, how gay. </p>
<h2>I almost wasnt going to write about these guys after i heard the bad news, Not one, not two, but three (???) sexual assualts in ONE night? seriously? you ****in sketch balls, you. that must be a new record. </h2>
<p>The New Kids on the Block: Beta, Phi Delt </p>
<p>Beta: Its worth the time and effort in typing to tell you a background on Beta. At one point, in the distant past, Beta had pretty **<strong><em>in rep. they were all oc and newport beach guys, they pulled the hot skinny model coked up *</em></strong>*ezzz, the most slutty kind. they were like super phi psi on coke. in fact, they got kicked off bc of coke. rumor has it, they were being investigated by a dea/lapd detective guy named Jon Stumpos. one day, when Beta was having one of their cocaine binging parties, Stumpos and Co. came and knocked down their front door and arrested a bunch of Beta dudes. it was bound to happen. since then, the old boys reinvented themselves as ‘stumpos raiders’. clever. the old beta hangs out at the 'bean and their still alive and kickin, if only just barely. most of them are 22-25 yr old guys that still try to relive the glory days. and those days were once very glorious. </p>
<p>But new beta is completely different. they are now ‘upstanding gentlemen’ LOLZ. but really i can kind of respect that. no drinkin, no smokin, no drugs, no partyin…no fun? maybe i dunno. they have good rep with the nice girls on campus. maybe on the up and up. time will tell. their dorks, but lovable dorks none-the-less. </p>
<p>Phi Delt: just like beta, these guys were a fun and crazy bunch. but their thing was getting into fights and shooting bums with bb guns rather than sniffin blow. just plain dumb in general. rumor has it that they use to **** on their pledges when they hazed them. i heard this from an old phi delt. </p>
<p>But new phi delt cleaned up well. their kind of like beta. actually theyre basicaly the same. boring nice guys. </p>
<p>Phi delt and Beta kind of represent the ‘new’ direction of the greek system: boring and weak. if USC’s greek system continues down the path its been headed in, all the houses will get kciked off and become like new Beta and new Phi Delt. ****, what a nightmare situation that would be.</p>

first time i’ve heard ATO is a top house… i’m not a fan because from my experience they don’t throw good parties and are all-around “weak” guys.</p>

<p>Is it hard to balance academics while in a fraternity? I’m transferring in the Spring and was hoping to join a frat but at the same time my number one priority is academics. Thoughts?</p>

<p>Totally unrelated, Alpha Lambda Delta is the freshman honor society that you get invited to if you get a 3.5 in your first semester or first year. They don’t really do much, you pay the ~$70 fee and you’re a member for life. Its just a resume filler imo.</p>

<p>If your going to rush next year, just avoid the racist frats like SAE and even Sigma Chi. SAE just had their first black guy in like 33 years or something (don’t quote me) there and i think he graduated or something- they are really REALLy racist and quite frankly make the school look bad. On top of that they almost killed one of their pledges due to their extensive hazing (and i heard they still do the elephant walk but im not really sure)</p>
<p>I got a bid from SAE but refused to go b/c didn’t want to be stereotyped as a racist when i graduate- but that is just me</p>
