What is the most beautiful city in the United States?

I think everyone can agree that Gary, Indiana is one of the most beautiful metropolises in North America. I believe that Detroit belongs in the same category (http://www.prorev.com/903DETROIT.JPG</a>).

I have heard all my life that Gary Indiana is not pretty at all…please don’t confuse the OP readers.
However, if you still think it is beautiful…explain why?

San Francisco. (if I can get the spelling right :P) It’s just so shiny!! And windy!!

Los Angeles!!!

(San Francisco is also nice.)

I love Boston, but San Francisco gets my vote for most beautiful.

Seattle or San Diego

San Francisco is really gorgeous.

Cities I really like at Chicago and San Francisco. I also really like Charleston.

So far San Francisco is ahead - considered as the most beautiful City…Agree
San Francisco: 10
Seattle: 4
Chicago: 3
New York: 3
Savannah: 2
Charleston: 2
Washington: 2
Boston: 2
Portland: 2
Baltimore: 1
San Antonio: 1
Los Angeles: 1
Oregon: 1
San Diego: 1
Annapolis: 1,
Tulsa: 1
ST. Louis: 1
Kansas: 1
Saint Paul: 1
Minneapolis: 1
Gary, Indiana: -1

I think most major city skylines are fantastic at night, but I also think a nice and peaceful evening on a beach is picturesque for inner beauty!!

-Most beautiful city in the US architecturally? Chicago
-Most beautiful city in the US Location? San Francisco
-Most beautiful city in the US culturally? New York
-Ugliest city in the US? Detroit

My hometown Seattle. It felt ugly while I lived there, but visiting years later, I have to admit, there was something magical about it.

I live near the Twin Cities… Personally, they aren’t my favorite, but there are definitely some neat areas. It’s a bit too cold for my taste though.

small city- Charleston or Santa Barbara
large city- San Francisco or Chicago

Santa Barbara IMO

Someone said San Antonio and as a person living here all my life, while it’s a great city and I want to die here, wouldn’t say it’s very beautiful. The riverwalk during fiesta/christmas yeah. But the nicest place I ever saw was the hillcountry in TX. It’s where I want to live, then grow old, move back to SA and have my bodied buried in the San Fernando cemetery.

Oh lucky…you are…: “The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence …”

I have visited many states and cities and comparing San Antonio, Texas with other cities, San Antonio has a lot to offer;
San Antonio has great activities and entertainment, cultural diversity, beautiful parades and “fiestas” all year long, centric to near cities are beautiful (Fredericksburg, San Marco, Austin…), Oktoberfest, Fiesta Texas, River walk, Nice restaurants,…

I really enjoyed your city.

Seattle, Washington. Been there once and would LOVE to live there.

Ah, green, no I love it, like the first friday and all that. But “pretty to look at” eh.

I hear our food is the best, mexican wise, and I’m afraid to leave because all I eat is mexican and when they say “this is the best!” to a restaurant I think is all right, I wonder how terrible it is outside.

How are people even mentioning SF? You can barely even see the sky there are so many random wires just going from building to building. Incredibly claustrophobic just walking on streets (the vast majority of the streets).

A bit small, but Santa Barbara is probably the best looking place I’ve been too (maybe too small for this comparison?). But then again, I did grow up there.
