What is wrong with UC system?

For freshman admission, most UCs do not consider alternate major. Berkeley took the option off the application outright. UCLA ONLY considers alternate majors for engineering applicants. UCSD will consider alternate majors for applicants applying to impacted majors (UCSD is the only campus still using the “impacted major” designation). The rest of the UC campuses each has discretion on whether alternate major is considered (and to which applicant population), so don’t hold your breath.

At UCSD, it doesn’t matter what major you apply for. It doesn’t change your chances at admission.

Same with UCSC except engineering majors.
