We have a modern platform bed (king size.) The frame was given to us by a coworker because they were moving and couldn’t fit it into their new bedroom. It’s fine - I mean, it was free… - but eventually we will replace it with a new bedroom set from our favorite furniture maker, The Joinery. https://m.thejoinery.com
We have two bedroom sets from them already- but those sets are in our kids’ rooms. After shifting to a king sized bed there is no way I will go back to a queen so I patiently wait until we decide to buy a set. It takes 3 months to build a piece. DH and I both haunt the local Craigslist page to try to pick up a frame sooner. We love their stuff.
I prefer to “headboard” the entire wall, like this:

If the bed sits on a platform of drawers and the wall-unit includes built-in nightstands on either side even better for storage in a small bedroom.
New LIKe, joinery furniture.

@bookworm We have quite a few of their pieces. Before we had kids, we would buy at least one piece a year. After kids, a lot less frequently :))
They also do custom cabinetry. When we redid our main bathroom we had them make a cherry vanity and a matching in-wall cupboard (linen closet.) The vanity has the thru-joints in a contrasting wood on the top drawers.
Our next purchase from them will not be a bed for us- it’ll likely be a desk for our home office. We are about to redo that room and the end of the project will include a desk.
That joinery stuff is beautiful! Thanks for the link. I love real wood.
Looks like they could make something @coralbrook’s customer can appreciate!
Really nice stuff. We are getting a king bed for the guest room. Also made in Oregon from solid maple.

That’s nice too. Very simple, I like that.
