Just another thought on the girl scout thing. I was just talking to my sister, who is in the process of earning her gold. They did change a few of the requirements, but they made it easier, not harder. Also, Studio 2b is in no way required (yet). I agree with you that the studio 2b program is stupid. I’m done with my girl scouting years, thank goodness!

For the SAT subject tests, consider this. In order to apply to the UC schools, you must take two tests. Most of the CA students who apply to USC also apply to the UC’s. Therefore, if you get good test scores, it will be helpful. I think most applicants take SAT2’s.

My son was turned down as a scholarship recipient intially, tho he had great SATII Subject scores (mid 700s & 800). He ultimately got Presidential 1/2 tuition because he was a NMF, so it all turned out OK anyway.

If your SATII scores are high, submitting them certainly couldn’t hurt you & MAY help, tho I think they are looking for passion and/or excellence in making awards. Not sure, since as mentioned above, son was originally turned down.

SAT II’s may be optional, but they help round out one’s academic strengths. I think it’s unofficially expected to have taken at least 2 SAT II’s; seeing as many other schools require 2-3 SAT II scores you might as well take the tests in your strongest subjects.

please someone tell me that your senior year 1st semester grades don’t go into the calculations for the scholarship. (see my earlier stats post in this thread - i want trustees, and just took the SATs again and i think i improved)
i just got a B+ in AP English for the fist quarter. my teacher had told me he was going to give me an A for the class but I guess he was just trying to make me feel better. will a semester B (if i can’t bring it up) kill all hope of getting trustee’s???

No, of course not. I certainly got a B or two my senior year and still got the scholarship. I’m pretty sure that senior grades don’t really matter, as long as you aren’t getting tons of C’s or failing.

omgosh thank you guys SO MUCH. i was about to cry…
that scholarship is my LIFE. haha no, not really, but that must be what it seems like to all the teachers who watch me struggle to keep an insane gpa

i still plan on arguing with my teacher over that grade tho, even though it’s pretty good considering that i only have gotten an A on one essay so far (but it was such a good essay that my teacher wants his old grad school teacher to publish it). still, a teacher shouldn’t promise a student like me that he’d give me an A in the class for sheer effort alone and then not do it! i believed him…

update: I got my A- in AP English so i’m 4.0 uw again.
and i checked the Explore USC reservation website - i get to interview in Feb. for Trustee’s!

hey all … i am a trustee scholar class of 08 and i know how most of the process works from here for both presidential and trustee scholarships … if you have any questions feel free to ask … cheers and good luck

I am offered an interview for the Presidential, and I am just wondering, what factors in the interview process would possibly bump me up to a Trustee?
And around what percentage of interviewees actually get bumped up a level?

I wonder when you got trustee scholarship in your freshmen, does it mean you will have it for the rest of college years (e.g. 4 years) as long as you are good for their general requirements?

danabyrne, you’ve pulled up a four-year old thread. USCtrojan08 graduated from USC in 2008.

To answer your question, Trustee, Presidential, Deans, Directors, and University Scholarships are all for 4 years as long as you maintain a 3.0 or better in 32 units or more per year.
