I speak English, German, Dutch, French, Swiss German, and a little bit of spanish and italian.

micceli, where did you learn Swiss-German?

I am fluent in English (duh) and I understand Latin. If you want to go to Vatican City, I’m your girl.

I lived in Switzerland for practically my entire life. I was born there and grew up there, then I moved to Canada 5 years ago.

Swiss German? Is that the Swiss dialect of German? The dialect that the Swiss speak?

Swiss german is a mixture of french, italian, latin, and german. The germans don’t understand us unless they live right on the boarder of swiss german. Many people refere to swiss german as an under developed german (I don’t believe that, but there’s some people that do).

border of Swiss german? is this a state in switzerland?

sorry, I meant to say boarder of Switzerland. I don’t know where my brain was when I wrote that. Now I feel really stupid, please don’t hold it against me! ;):p

lol … i wont… I thought switzerland had 3 official languages, Spanish, French & Roman

they have 4, and spanish isn’t one of them. the official languages are french, swiss german (or just german), italian, and retromanic, I’m not sure how to spell that (roman or a form of latin).

Romansch :)

Right thanks, I totally forgot that one! (How’s the weather in Ireland anyways around this time of year?)

fluent: english and spanish
understand but can’t really speak: italian
would like to learn:italian (how to speak) and french

schweizerdeutsche!!! I lived in Switzerland for a few year, although in the French part (in Geneva & then Neuchatel)…

That’s cool! How did you like it there? I lived in Ammerzwil, a small town by Lyss or about 15 minutes from Biel.
