What major should my daughter put on her applications to Ivies to maximize her chance

Pizzagirl: If she had shown interest and have excelled in History/Latin. I would have no problem having her put down that as a major. But if her strength are Math/Science/Computers then putting a History/Geography major doesn’t make much sense. That is what the problem I’ve with my wife’s suggestions.

The problem I’ve with my daughter’s putting up EECS was that I don’t think that would provide her enough time to complete pre med requirement. But since lot of people have conveyed that it might not be that bad I think putting down computer engineering won’t be bad.

this whole thread is sick. you should not be trying to find ways to bend around the system. an ivy education is not that important. if your child is accepted, then great. really, you should probably back off a little bit and listen to your kid.

well ParentOfIVyHope is very desperate for his/her daughter to get into an ivy and its really important for him/her so i can see this as a legit thread. you should let her major in somethings that predominantly male so she gets like a mini affirmative action.

my point is you should not be desperate for your daughter to go to an ivy. you cannot live through your children.

yeah i know but parentofivyhope isnt going to change anytime soon

I cannot believe this thread is still up and running…

explorercy bumped a thread almost three months old…and imho, her math seems strongest (multivariable and beyond are rare in high school)

I weep for your daughter. She WILL resent you.

People, this link that george88ab is posting isn’t real.

If you look at the blog, you’ll see that the blogger remains anonymous and shows nothing that proves that he is an admissions dean at all.

His email is george88ab@yahoo.com, which (1) isn’t a legitimate college e-mail; e-mails from admissions deans, students, and professors end in .edu, and (2) is pretty much your screen name.

Google george88ab and this is what you get: a link to a YouTube page of a 19 year old who said that “Obama and Farrakhan are in bed together.”

Google george88b and you get a Wikipedia page that says “George _______ is one of the greatest pimps to ever live.”

Furthermore, look at the blog’s post on June 25, 2008. Now look at the question posted by kt17 here: BIG dilemma!! Anyone can see that, except for the last few sentences, they’re exactly the same.
I rest my case.
