What message does blue/red/green/purple/pink hair send?

The second I read LasMa’s post, George Carlin came to mind…See my beard? Ain’t it weird? Don’t be scared, it’s just a beard.

:)

HA! I had read this before, and it made me laugh so hard, I figured I’d share it…

I went with my dad to the shopping center the other day to buy some new shoes.

We decided to grab a bite at the food court.

I noticed he was watching a teenager sitting next to him.

The teenager had spiked hair in all different colors: green, red, orange, and blue.

My dad kept staring at him.

The teenager would look and find him staring every time.

When the teenager had had enough, he sarcastically asked:

‘What’s the matter old man, never done anything wild in your life?’

Knowing my Dad, I quickly swallowed my food so that I would not choke on his response; knowing he would have a good one.

And in classic style he did not bat an eye in his response:

‘Got stoned once and bleeped a peacock. I was just wondering if you were my son.’

(I ‘bleeped’ the word)

JutstaMom, thanks for the laugh of the day!!

A vitamin or mineral deficiency.

I’m all for ‘happy hair’ - we did it in the 70’s to be chic - now at least it looks fun.

I once had florescent green hair (by accident, home herbal dyes don’t always go as planned). People would drive around the block to take a second look. I didn’t like it at all, didn’t have the money to fix it for awhile. But some people started talking to me (high school) who wouldn’t have bothered before. It was enlightening.

I say no big deal to this one…unless there is some sort of job or internship she’s trying to get. If so, that could nix her chances.

Hair dyed wacky colors is small potatoes in the big scheme of things. My son has piercings on his lips and gauges in his ears. He did add some blue to his hair at one time.

We are just hoping that he will give it up soon when he realizes that he will need to look for a professional job some day (he is a mechanical engineering major). However, he made a point to let us know that his calculus professor has gauges!

All we can do is just smile and nod when he comes home with something new. I’m waiting for the tattoo announcement when he comes home sometime from college.

I think streaky colored hair is alittle bit out there, but like many have said it grows out. It’s a statement no matter your age. Even the kids are split on it. I have two sons who really dislike it and one that doesn’t care (referencing the opposite sex). I wouldn’t suggest it for some interview positions except perhaps Starbucks barrista. Now, hole and tat repair requires cosmetic surgery…not a cheap proposition.

It’s hair. No big deal. Really.
