^ good thinking.
Yep, the biggest class we have seen on schedule at Rhodes had 30 student. That actually creates problems with registration since classes all open at the same time and it becomes a push button competition.
⊠and are in PA
What are the ramifications if I donât tell my mother that I opened up an account hypothetically. Is it a good idea not to ask
None, since itâs just a practice account.
Donât talk about it, if she sees you doing it just tell the truth, that itâs a practice account so youâre ahead when August rolls around.
No punishment. I need to apply anyway. School said get ready. I am ready. What is the problem, mom?
Wait, so would I use the real email and stuff I would use or no
Yes, you use everything real. But till August 1, itâs just practice.
(Obviously donât send anything )
Iâm okay
After I submit everything is visible right, so I shouldnât put down religion, sexual orientation, preferred name, etc?
Should I just put prefer not to answer when applicable.
For sexual orientation I can probably play it off as not wanting to sympathize with LGBT issues by saying Iâm straight or something
It wants my home address will it send me mail
It helps to make an email address just for college applications. Otherwise, important Emails can get lost.
I donât think you will get into honors at either.
You may feel that you are ok, but this is not ok. Please tell your counselor.
Most colleges donât care about your LGBTQ orientation. Itâs not a hook so itâs fine to say whatever you want in the questions and/or essays. It wonât help or hurt you.
At most medium/largecolleges, even if there are large lecture classes, there are often small, mandatory âsectionsâ of about 20 students who meet once or twice a week with a TA (teaching assistant) to review the material.
And, though a large lecture class may seem overwhelming, if you sit at the front and ignore the students behind you, it can feel less large. And if the professor is one who asks questions and calls on students, there youâll be, right at the front of the class ready to engage.
And as for small classes⊠some professors only lecture and donât engage with students during class time, even in small classes, so that can be more like what you might be imagining a large lecture class to be likeâas in, a small class may still have little to no student /faculty interaction. It all depends on the class and the professor.
And you mentioned office hours. Yes to office hours â the ones held by the professor and also the ones held by the TA. Thatâs where you can ask specific questions and get help with any confusing content, OR explore content you already understand more deeply. Students are not bothering faculty and TAs when they go to office hours. Itâs what college students are SUPPOSED to do.
Oh okay
Ok thank you
Iâm okay
Even if youâre okay you want to mention it to your GC so thereâs a trace of it (in case something goes wrong, it wonât come out of nowhere).
On commonapp, you donât have to check anything in the sexual orientation box. It doesnât matrer to admissions - itâs just to put you in touch with on campus groups and tailor their mailings.
You may want to check the African American/Black box and âChristianâ, so that they send you info you can use with your mom when time comes.
You need to create a specific, college-dedicated email you check everyday. Something like CollegeRosechildNJ@
Thatâs what youâll use with âjoin our mailing listâ.
You took the SAT and are taking the ACT. Check the box about getting information mailed to you. Literally 400 colleges will start sending you glossy brochures. Your mom wonât know which among them you specifically requested.
For this, you may check AA/Black but nothing else (not religion).
Do not submit anything in commonapp- but do âjoin our mailing listâ, at colleges named on this thread.
This can actually be fun â
