Rain boots are a must also - preferrably fashionable ones - it’s always raining in Ithaca when it’s not snowing. My daughter wears a lot of flats, no sneakers. She wears lined boots when it’s really cold, or leather knee high boots with jeans or skirts. She’ll carry shoes in her large handbag to change into when she is going out.

This is what Ithaca weather usually says (can substitute rain for snow):

Partial cloudy, with a chance of snow.
Sunny, with a chance of snow.
Cloudy, with a chance of snow.
Snowing, with a chance of snow.

I bought her a pair of water proof boots that would withstand 30 below 0 temperature - oh, it’s ugly, I would never wear it - in Aug. Then I got - oh, thank-you so much, I don’t know what I would have done the boots - in Feb.
