What should I write about in College Essay

One of my issues was Honors History. Next year as a Junior I am taking Honors in science and math. This year I had all A’s then B in english, and a D in my honors history class. Freshman year fewer A’s, more B’s then 2 C’s in both my honor history classes lasting a semester each. How do I explain this issue??? 8th grade teacher recommened me for Honors History, but I shouldn’t have taken it. Then Like an idiot I waived into it sophomore year when I wasn’t recommended. I am ready to go next year, and am taking all regular classes and 2 honors consisting in math and science. The goal is to flirt with a 4.0 next year, wish me luck guys, I know I am more than capable. Also plan on taking AP Pysch, AP CALC, and AP in a Science Senior Year.

As best you can. What you need to do is explain WHY you did poorly. Were you bad at time management that year, were you overwhelmed with other work, was the teaching method not clicking with you. The idea isn’t that the material was hard, but that you hit a learning block.

A suggestion I would make, though, is that you send two essays with your application. One to explain the poor grade and another one that is more “fun” (i.e. about a hobby, a Why Pitt, etc.)

One thing that I am confused by is why you took honors history as a sophomore when you clearly did not do well in it as a freshman (you said you got C’s). You might want to explain that too.

Thanks I’ll keep that in mind when Applying later down the road.
