'What They Remember' -- 18-yr-old Mindset

How about your mom going to the grocery store on Saturday morning with curlers in her hair - topped off with pastel hair net!

Baby oil and Coppertone Tanning Butter for those suntanning (or should I say sunburning) sessions. What were we thinking?

And “Sun-In”! ( or lemon juice)

The jingle
“Sun In… thank you for the…”

Here you go…

I also remember in high school girls going to the football game with rollers in their hair, so they’d look good for the dance that night. I could never figure that out – didn’t they care what they looked like during the day?? Apparently not!

My two older sisters using empty concentrated orange juice cans as curlers. Them sitting in a warm bath wearing their new jeans hoping to shrink them to their body shape. Oh, and seeing them ironing their hair on an ironing board. Much fun to see.

Oh, my. I’d forgotten about ironing my hair. Did we really torture ourselves that much? I’m surprised we had any hair left after the abuse we put it through.

And did anyone else make “ironed” grilled cheese sandwiches?

The jingle
“Sun In… thank you for the…” "

The jingle I remember was “Sun-In, and sunlight. And you’ll be blonder tonight.”
All that money for what was probably just repackaged lemon juice.
Those were the days when tanning was good for you, of course.
