What to do with college student home for the holiday? Looking for fun

What special things did you do as a family when your college kid was in HS? Do that.

We visit the Christkindl market in our city, make sure to see a movie, and hit some favorite restaurants. My daughter loves bird-watching, so we often go on a few birding hikes, though not necessarily all of us on every hike if we don’t have time. If there’s a special exhibit at one of our city’s museums, we might go see that, too. We usually pick one night to go to one of the holiday lights displays (at the zoo or botanical garden – check to see if your city has something like this).

Winter break is not as long as you think it is, and your kid might want to spend a lot of time with friends, too. And there will be more breaks - no need to pack everything in now.

My D’s first winter break we had horrible weather and couldn’t safely go anywhere for a couple of days. As a family we picked something to binge watch together and had so much fun!

Our family time will be mostly Christmas Eve and Christmas. They have so many individual plans. We did watch a few episodes of the sopranos with one of them last night before she went out.

Here too. My D23 has been home for 48hours and out with her friends for almost all of them

“let them sleep till noon and hang out in pajamas all day”, is a great activity for their 1st day with some binge watching from the couch (with whatever sweet favorite they like…) at night
After that all the suggestions for going out posted above sound great :+1:
