What to wear to a hippie/artsy wedding in a park? I'm oldish and plump

I’m impressed-it must be the silk making the linen drape right and behave. Are those cardigans machine washable or do they need to be dry cleaned? How’s the stretch on them in the upper arm area? (I can see my MIL liking these for her cruise that’s coming up and I could get her one for mother’s day).

I successfully washed every single piece of EF I have (I bet the instructions say “dry clean only”) - cold water for both wash and rinse. Her latest series of cardigans is mostly cotton-linen (guess to save a few margin basis points?). I washed one with no issues. Nordsrom is shipping me two more as we speak.

and

Both say “dry clean or wash cold/lay flat”.

They are knit and do stretch.

^^^those are both pretty, and I agree that you can usually wash a cotton or linen plus silk combo then lay flat to dry.

OK, I got hooked in instead of doing what I should be doing! But 'll stick with one store.

Any of these appeal? Maybe not hippie but attractive and flattering perhaps?

I live on the edge of the Santa Cruz Mountains, and ride my bike there several times a week. In the summer, during the day, the weather could be in the high 90s. Or it could in the low 50s and foggy-- so foggy it seems like it’s raining. Google “fog drip.” Be ready.

I went to one summer wedding in the redwoods, up above Los Gatos. It was so cold that day. I wished I’d brought another warm layer.

@Singersmom07 , thanks so much for the sale alert and the code! I missed that sale yesterday, but there’s a variation of it today … going to keep my eyes open for the 50% again.

@Marilyn , wonderful suggestions! This one would look good on me, I believe, but my wallet is screaming …

I do like the paisley, and it’s an easier price … thanks for this suggestion:

@BunsenBurner , those are both very pretty and would suit me … whether for the wedding or just regular work wear. I’d be comfortable in those!

Thanks for all the great comments. I feel like I should come back and update you once I’ve assembled my outfit! In the meantime, I’m saving lots of these links.

If you like the Koromav, these are on sale (not that it makes it affordable, just lets the wallet scream a bit more quietly):http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/komarov-sleeveless-charmeuse-dress-chiffon-jacket-plus-size/4217483?origin=category-personalizedsort&contextualcategoryid=0&fashionColor=&resultback=1539

Also, I just ran into this; some of the fabrics make me think of nightgowns but the Ikat Ombre seems quite arty. Brushstrokes is also nice and looks quite forgiving. http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/tart-chloe-print-empire-waist-jersey-maxi-dress-plus-size/4043744?origin=related-4043744-0-4-PP_4-Data_Lab_Recommendo_V2-also_viewed2&recs_type=related&recs_productId=4043744&recs_categoryId=0&recs_productOrder=4&recs_placementId=PP_4&recs_source=Data_Lab_Recommendo_V2&recs_strategy=also_viewed2&recs_referringPageType=item_page

^^^That Ikat Ombre Maxi dress seems like an appropriate choice.
(@Marilyn’s 4th link)

^^I like the paisley London Times dress and the Tart Maxi a lot!!

^^I’m in love with that Komarov flutter sleeve dress from Nordstrom rack.

I had to laugh at the comments about wearing white to weddings because my mother wore white to my wedding. As did I. I had requested the mothers get dresses anywhere in an array of blue tones. My mother called me in tears from a phone booth (remember those?) in the pouring rain to tell me that she had looked everywhere and the only possible dress she could find was white. I relented and her gown did look she could have worn it to be married herself or a vow renewal ceremony or something. But I at least had the veil so everyone could tell I was the bride!

Last year after she passed away, we found an ice green silk suit stored away at the top of her closet. It was her wedding suit! All of her wedding pictures (from 1947) were black and white so I always assumed it was a white outfit. Now I know - my mother didn’t wear white to her own wedding. Hmmm. Maybe that’s why she wore white to mine?

@Marilyn , that is a sweet story about your mom. She may not even have consciously realized what she was doing. You were gracious to let her wear what she liked!

And I really like this dress+jacket, in particular. It’s even my favorite color:

It could look amazing – only know if you try it on. It does look breezy, so hope you have very warm weather if you opt for it.

Hi all – for anyone who loved the Chico’s dress, it’s on sale now. Plus use promo code 81086 and get $25 off your $100 order. Happy shopping! (As for me … that dress looked frumpy on … but that’s not the dress’s fault.)

What did you finally decide on? It sounds like it is going to be a great event!

Nothing!

…with Famolare sandals.

Still trying things on!

@lostaccount , wearing “nothing” might be an option at this particular wedding.
