<p>Should take 6-7 years: 4-5 years for the BS in mechanical engineering and 2 years for the MS in aerospace engineering. I do think you should be open to the mechanical engineering major, though; you can move into aerospace from that.</p>
<p>Not sure how you feel about an HBCU, but my husband did this Project SPACE program at Morehouse College. He majored in aerospace engineering and it came with a full scholarship. He also did two summer internships at the NASA center in Huntsville. The caveat is that it’s a 3/2 program.</p>
<p>What’s an HBU? I looked it up and it said Houston Baptist University.</p>
<p>Okay, my plan is to get a degree in mechanical, then focus on getting a grad school with a good astronautics program (because I want to specialize in spacecraft engineering)</p>
<p>Also, my parents told me that a lot of their income goes to paying the mortgage.</p>
