History, because I was freaking out about the prospect of taking the final 2 required classes for my math degree - and I wanted to graduate in 4 years. So, senior year, I spoke with the school’s registrar who told me that if I took these specific classes senior year, I could be a history major and a math minor. Done.
Journalism, because I’m a good writer. Actually journalism and writing have little to do with each other. But that’s what everyone told me I should do and like the good little people-pleaser I was, I went along. Also, changing majors would have meant changing catalog years and requirements and I didn’t want to do that.
Engineering, because I was good at math and science and wanted to be sure I could support myself upon graduation. Switched to Math/Computer science after taking my first programming course.
Business, because my dad wanted me to, and because I could skip that last dratted semester of German I would have had to take in any other major.
