What were the best decisions and actions you took while in college?

Transferring…realizing that my first choice was a bad fit and moving on with no regrets. It was the best decision I made.

Two things:

Asking myself “what do I want to study outside my major?,” then taking those classes, often pass/fail or during summer session. These classes had a huge, and completely unexpected, impact on my life. Plus, they enriched my undergraduate experience immesurably.

Taking a volunteer position related to one of my interests – again, it had nothing to do with my major – yet it led to first post-college job and set me up on a career course that lasted for years.

My advice to all undergrads: open yourself up to possibilities, and pursue interests, no matter how far-flung. The results can be astounding :)

Taking as many Literature/writing electives as my major would allow.

Droping the meal plan for second semester of my Freshman year (that’s when I learned how to cook and saved big bucks).

Dropping Economics 101 after the first week because of the instructor’s great inability to make himself understood in English.

Dumping my GF.
Whew!
