What were you doing 35 years ago?

End of freshman year of college. Dating best bud from HS. Decided to stay in Athens for the summer and work as part of going through the process for becoming independent for FA purposes. Was feeling pretty estranged from family.

I was part way through college and working in a co-op job. I was dating my now-H, hanging with my friends, and just enjoying being a kid in school. Ah, such good memories.

35 years ago I was getting braces-- the kind w the head gear…

Junior high. all comments would bring back horrible memories. LOL

I was graduating from high school. Now I feel really old.

Finishing Jr High and looking forward to high school…

Re: “I was graduating from high school. Now I feel really old.”

Reading this makes me feel really really old. (I am older than all 5 CC members who have posted on this page. Getting braces? Junior High? I could be 10+ years older!)

Um, finishing up 5th grade?

9th grade! And Texas starting a heat wave. Hottest summer on record until 2011. I was there for both of them.

Married for 2 years, accepted for fall start in grad school 2 hours from Hubby.

I was in the second year of med school and early in dating future H . He got a waterbed, tripled the size of the twin. We were in heaven! Yup still have it and just replaced the heater and bladder. Some things never change.

I was getting braces off (the kind with horrible skull cap headgear). Now due to said headgear and that orthodontist’s methods, I am getting braces on. Sigh. Like being 12, only this time with wrinkles

Finishing up law school, engaged and getting married in August.

Today - Still a lawyer and still married to the same wonderful woman with three children out of college. Yippee ki yay!

I was turning into an adult. I had gotten married the year before to the woman I had been living with for a couple of years before that. We bought a house. I was working intensely – pretty much 7 days a week – as was my wife. I was in my third (?) year of teaching MBAs. I was finishing off my first book, publishing papers and playing the academic game. Kids not yet there. But, remarkably, we are attending the graduation ceremony of our youngest at the end of the week (though technically she finished school in the first term and got her diploma a few months ago and has already started grad school).

Senior year in HS. I had had a rough winter and spring with some health issues, and I was ready to graduate.

Fun thread. 35 years ago I was working full time and going to on of the early EMBA programs at a Big 10 school and was totally exhausted.
