I actually have the option of paying 60k more for Stanford over Duke, and I chose the latter. Thanks so much for the Duke haters for making this decision so much more legitimate.

Why would I want to pay for a degree from Yale if I had a degree from Duke? I don’t understand.

I don’t really know. As stated earlier, the quality of education in general won’t differ by much, and someone will probably have loyalty to their school after going there for years.

Well, I find this complicated, because Berkeley is also strong where Stanford dominates. For example, Berkeley’s eng’g and CS are only slightly behind Stanford’s. So, I don’t honestly think it’s good to pay an additional 150k for a Stanford CS degree over a Berkeley CS degree. I’d pay 50k more. But that’s it. I’d pay 80k more for other programs.

I’d pay 50k more for a Princeton and Yale degree over a Berkeley degree. BUT not for engineering and CS. I’d stay in California, as it is, for me, the best US State.
