You’re sort of right. I do dabble in math, but I don’t love it-rather, I think the idea of a perfect ratio is intriguing. It connects to the arts, in the fluid movement of an arm, in the sweeping slash of the bow, in the canvas splattered with color…and, well, I love art!

*For the person posting afterwards: Your prompt will be EdwardWitten I doubt that I count.

Edward Witten… your real name actually is Edward Witten or you decided to use his as your username ( in which case I suppose you’re a fan of his).

Ps to Golden Ratio: you’re right about the russian part ;)

Annyuta: Is that your…name? Because, frankly, I do not see this as Russian for an object; the “a” makes me skeptic that this is a male name (but who knows?), so I’m saying this is a girl’s name and it’s yours! cue in random game show theme song

FYI: - Annyuta =(russian girl’s name) Anna, but in a diminutive way, = little Anna, in a way. Russian names can have a number of variable forms, for ex. Alexander=Sasha, Sanya, Shurik, etc. This sometimes presents difficulty for native English speakers reading translations of Russian literature.

It makes me think of shirley temple for some reason lol. Im guessing you’re a girl and i imagine you to have curls ( shirley temple reference sorry).
I like the way you spell it :)

Ps: yes exactly, Anna or as you put it “little anna”. Its not quite translatable haha.
but just btw @goldenration a lot of russian male nicknames end with a: kolya, vasya, sasha, stiva, among others ;)

@GoldenRatio Haha not boston red sox, not even sure if they’re baseball or football. Definitely boarding school enthusiast, but only because I couldn’t think of any other usernames!

@BlueUkiyo: You are just about as far from the truth as possible. It always makes me laugh when everyone says, “You must be good at math” and I’m like, “Yep-I got a 70 on that systems of equations quiz!” ;)

Also, Ukiyo is definitely Japanese; right? It would be embarrassing to get this wrong; I’ve been starting to teach myself this language.

@bsroxmysox: Haha, unfortunately, I do know a bit of sports jargon.

Yes, ukiyo is Japanese. It literally translates to “floating world”. It also relates to the Edo period art of ukiyo-e printing (my favorite art form). Also, you are teaching yourself Japanese? I noticed that on the thread about who we want to be when we are 30, that your vision and mine were shockingly similar. At first, I thought you were just messing with me. But after looking at some of your other posts, I’m starting to think you were being serious. That is an incredible coincidence.

@BlueUkiyo: Your post made me take another look at mine, and then scroll up to the earlier posts. And voila! I saw yours. I swear, my jaw dropped. This is a really weird coincidence…

Yes, I’m teaching myself Japanese. It’s very confusing, though. Three alphabets is a lot to handle!

Hahaha. This whole thing has really made my day. I still can’t believe it. But now you can understand why I might have thought you were messing with me, right?
