<p>I’d never want to have Top Secret security clearance. Moreover, I don’t even qualify for it AFAIK because I’m a Italian-American dual citizen (I’m not willing to give up my foreign passport either).</p>
<p>Whenever you travel, they keep track of where you go. The pay sucks, and there is limited growth. It’s also very boring - you’ll most likely end up in a cubicle. As long as you can breath into a mirror and see fog, you can earn your paycheck. </p>
<p>Additionally, it’s not as easy to get hired for the US government. Who wouldn’t want job stability, pension, and good benefits - right? Veterans also get preference. </p>
<p>And if you think waiting for admission decisions is bad, the period from applying for a position to getting one is about 6-10 months.</p>
