Freshman Parking Ban</p>
<p>Freshmen (fewer than 24 credits completed at Binghamton University) residing in University residence halls are not permitted to register or park a vehicle on campus. This includes the parking garage, visitors paid parking and parking meters. Freshmen who reside off campus may register a vehicle on campus and purchase a parking permit.</p>
<p>Requests for exceptions to this policy are to be directed to the Deputy Chief of Police / Parking Services.</p>
<p>Resident freshmen who park a car on campus without permission from Parking Services and upper-classmen who purchase a parking permit for a resident freshman (or attempt to do so) will be fined and/or face campus judicial action

<p>if you need a car to get to an off-campus job, you could inquire as to whether that would warrant an exception. a desire to be able to get to party cities would probably not warrant such an exception.</p>
<p>oh and in case you think you can get around the rule by not living in the residential halls freshman year, they also generally require freshman to live on campus. why? another one of their policies.</p>

<p>Freshmen are required to live on campus unless their families have made previous arrangements with the Office of Residential Life to allow them to reside off campus. Freshmen, however, are not allowed to live in the apartment communities. Local freshmen from Broome or Tioga counties may either live on campus or commute from home. We do not have separate freshman housing because we believe that the diversity of students enhances the residential experience for everyone
