<p>At CGA we have an active parents group that supports the crew teams…I believe the same holds true for sailing.</p>
<p>CGA crew is considered a varsity sport but also gets a lot of support from the Coast Guard Foundation and the Alumni Assoc. Each year nearly 100 cadets participate in crew, roughly 10% of the corps at any one time. These kids in turn become alums and support their fellow rowers. We also have Friends of CGA Crew which sponsors an annual “Back to the River” banquet just prior to Spring Break. They also help with food for the races, which is overall run by the parents group. We raised money privately to buy a new tent for the rowing team/parents to use at races.</p>
