What's on Your Super Bowl menu??

I’m serving buffalo chicken wings with blue cheese mixed with hot sauce and sour cream. I’ll serve it with celery and carrot sticks. I’m also serving mini-crab cakes with a lemon aoli sauce and hamburger sliders with grilled onions, mushrooms and cheese. This morning I baked the Hummingbird Bundt Cake from Feb. 2012 Southern Living Magazine. It’s very pretty but tastes like a great banana cake. My mistake was using Dole pineapple with natural juices. It was tasteless. The recipe also said to place pecans in the bottom of the floured pan and then pour batter over the pecans. That was a mistake because the pecans did not fall. That’s a mistake because you frost/glaze the cake and sprinkle pecans on top. It’s still a good cake although the pecans are on top and you can’t taste pineapple, just bananas.

Two or three kinds of wings - buffalo (sauce is 50% melted butter, %50 Frank’s Red Hot), BBQ, and maybe some kind of Asian orange glaze sauce. Baked this year instead of fried. We’ll see how that goes over. :D

Lasagna.

Chocolate trifle.

Plus whatever our 15 or 20 guests bring.

Go Pats!

Parmesan Bites

4 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/2 c. grated parmesan cheese, plus 1 T.
1 can refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
1/2 c. chopped pepperoni (I use turkey pepperoni)
1 T. parsley

With electric mixer on medium speed, mix cream cheese and 1/2 c. of the parmesan cheese until well blended.

Separate crescent rolls into 4 rectangles; seal diagonal perforations. Divide cheese mixture into 4 equal parts, and spread lengthwise along the middle of each rectangle. Top with pepperoni and parsley. Fold one long edge up over filling, and fold up the other long edge to enclose the filling. Seal the seam.

Cut each roll into 4 equal squares. Place seam-side down on a greased cookie sheet (or ungreased baking parchment). Sprinkle with remaining 1 T. parmesan cheese.

Bake at 350 for 13-15 minutes until golden brown.

NOTE: Pepperoni can be omitted for the vegetarians among us. Chopped red bell pepper can be added along with, or instead of, the pepperoni.

haha tom, that’s pretty good!

Going out for the evening wherever I want and eating whatever I want. The city will be so calm and peaceful outside that there will be no waiting anywhere for anything. That’s my recipe for a great Super Bowl. I am not a sports fan! (Obvious  )

It’s also a good mall day to buy a sweater (gray of course). Especially in the men’s department.

We’re making lobster mac & cheese with a side of sauteed swiss chard. I’m going to be such a wreck rooting for The Pats that I’ll need some comfort food.

Well our superbowl party is DD’s gang of kids and they have decided to have chili. I get to stay home and oversee the party, Dh and DS are going to some friends house for their party :).

GO PATS!!!

(Is that 10 char?)

Tacos, Homemade Guacamole, large cocktail shrimp, variety of foods friends are bringing

Home made chicken wings and my H’s special salsa dip (NO guacamole, which I despise) with Tostitos Hint of Lime chips.

We also despise football (and all sports, in all honesty) so we have taken Black Sunday out of the library to watch with our snacks. Once that’s over, we’ll turn on Mob Wives.

For anyone who isn’t familiar with Black Sunday, it’s a thriller involving a terror attack at the Superbowl.

We are going to a house party, rule is everyone brings an appetizer. Clams Oregano and Stuffed Scallops will be our offering. Pre-made frozen, but if you help them out with some Old Bay, sweet clarified butter and lemon they are really delicious!

I will have chips and dip.

Thanks for the recipe LaMas! Yes, thought I might leave the pepperoni out of some for my D who isn’t a meat fan!

I like to go with something regional for each team, and make it the food theme for the whole weekend.

New England:
Blueberry pancakes & (real) maple syrup
New England clam chowder (from Legal Seafood)
Lobster roll (we prefer Connecticut style, just warm lobster in butter on a roll)
Boston baked beans
Boston baked scrod
Cape Cod potato chips
Vermont cheddar
Non-alcoholic beverage: Cranberry juice
Beer: Sam Adams

New York:
Bagels, lox & cream cheese
Pastrami on rye
Corned beef on rye
Buffalo wings (OK, it’s a stretch, but Buffalo’s in NY! NY State, that is)
Manhattan clam chowder (from Legal Seafood)
NY-style pizza (pretty good local place, ex-pat New Yorkers like it)
New York sharp cheddar
Non-alcoholic beverage: Dr. Brown’s Cream Soda
Beer: McSorley’s Irish Ale

Also making some corn chowder as a substitute for clam chowder for D2 who is allergic to shellfish, and a generic salad to balance out all the high-carb, high-fat stuff.

^^ That’s amazing.

bc- can we come to your house?

^^Wow. I was just going with chips and salsa. I feel pretty pathetic now.

Just finished the first round of snacks during the Puppy Bowl (my favorite part of the Super Bowl). We had stuffed baby baked potatoes and a regional dish - Skyline dip - a layered dip of cream cheese, minced onions, canned Skyline chili and topped with shredded cheddar cheese. At the start of the game, we are having mini sandwiches, a variety of cheeses and crackers, a tomato salad and an olive tapenade. Not our usual Super Bowl at all.

How about this on the table?

ti.me/zOpc1Y

Here is what a bunch of 16/17 year olds brought–cocktail wieners in bbq sauce, 4 kinds of chips, artichoke dip (num), cake balls, cookies, red velvet cupcakes, red velvet cupcakes, red velvet cake  . We supplied the chili, fritos, corn bread and pop (soda).
