When people talk about a “personal statement,” is that part of an application? What is that? Are some people just submitting one even though they aren’t required to? And what is the content of such a thing?

Hannah - you should be fine. If you’re really worried, e-mail your admissions counselor and let him/her know of the sending date.

So, what’s plaguing me?..

Well, I took 2 years off after High School (couldn’t afford it, and all that) and I have NO idea how that’s going to affect me…there’s absolutely no published research on it.

Plus, in Senior year I finished out with two C+s (JR year: straight As). I took really hard classes that year and a full courseload, but still. :/

The whole deal! Essays - I apparently have NINE essays to complete, including the CommonApp one and an extra essay because I cannot do the Cornell interview for Arch. Then, there’s my lack of extracurriculars. Seriously, amazing how many things some people do. :|. Serves me right for bumming around eh. Also, is anyone here applying to UPenn???
