What's The Best of Columbus, OH?

There’s a Vino Volo in the airport. After the TSA stole my shampoo, I found it a great consolation.

I always think of Ohio as flat and boring in the middle. Where’s the water??? or hills??? Sounds nicer than I thought.

Not all parts of Ohio are thriving like Columbus. My H is from a small steel town that is dying a long, slow death. The downtown is full of empty stores; there are many abandoned homes. Couple that with high unemployment, a large aging population, and you dont have an area where people want to live. H’s niece still lives there and says the only thriving business in town is the funeral home. All of the young people leave town because there isnt a future there. The steel mill, where most people worked, used to employ 3K workers now there are about a100 workers.

@wis75 Cincinnati is on the river, and it is VERY hilly, actually one of the nicknames is the city of seven hills. It can be quite challenging in the winters.

@LakeWashington Ohio is not rainy, it was fairly rainy and cool this summer, for some reason.

I grew up in SE OH; beautiful parks, hiking, plenty of hills. Head to the north end of the state for Lake Erie.

You bet that all of Ohio isn’t thriving as well as Columbus. But if you’re living in Columbus, you aren’t so worried about Cleveland or Toledo!! We all make the trip down to Cbus often enough to help the city out!!!

Columbus actually has some slightly hilly areas - more so than the north part of Ohio. And some small inland lakes.

This park is beautiful - great picnicing, amazing running/walk/bike paths:

Great Metropark system with water as well:

Is Mozart’s still open? Out on Main?

The former was a bakery that used to celebrate Mozart’s birthday by having free food and Music all day.

The latter was like a Hard Rock Cafe for homosexuality…yes, in Columbus.

I believe my D has been to Mozart’s - a piano bakery/cafe.

You all have really ignited my interest in Columbus. Sounds like a great town. Time to start thinking about a scouting visit.

About half of Ohio (think drawing a line diagonally from the NE to the SW) is fairly flat as the glaciers scraped it pretty flat S and E of there it’s hilly and get hillier as you enter the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. As for water it has Lake Erie to the north and the Ohio River to the south, however it does not have the myriad of lakes like Minnesota or Kentucky. This summer was a cool and rainy summer, Ohio can also be hot, humid and dry. We’ve had winters that had little snow and others that we may get snow fall measured in ft. (NE Ohio always gets more snow). Like the northwest Ohio can be a great place to avoid skin cancer:) it can be cloudy a lot.

Just Googled Hoover Park Reservoir. What a great looking park!!!
