What's up with the JC Penney commercials?

The trouble with JCP is not only is the shopping experience lacking, the prices aren’t that great either. Lots of women like foot ball too.

Seem fine to me. My point is that I am glad JCP cut back. I hate the flashiness of other stores.

This new business model is being funded on the backs of employees – layoffs, pay cuts, and slashed hours.

I am severely disappointed in all the changes at Penneys. Kohls has gone off the deep end in the last year and all their clothes are either TACKY as heck or designed for little stick women with no curves, and Penneys was my fallback and has always been where I get my office clothes. Every time I’ve gone in ever since the changes took place I have left the store disappointed and disgusted. The clothes are not as nice BY FAR, the store is messy and difficult to navigate. If I wanted to shop at walmart I’d go to walmart.

I have just about given up shopping there, and kohls has been useless for me for the past year, haven’t been able to find a single thing. I’ve needed more or less a whole new work and casual wardobe all year and havent purchased a thing because none of my go-to stores are remotely acceptable anymore. I don’t know where else to go!

Here’s an article about the self check-out -

[JCPenney’s To Eliminate Check-Out Clerks CBS Pittsburgh](JCPenney's To Eliminate Check-Out Clerks - CBS Pittsburgh)

I think they are doomed. They are betting on the intelligence and perceptiveness of the typical American shopper:

JCP: No more games! Just great everyday low prices!

TAS: But there are no sales?

JCP: Thats because we don’t mark up prices just to give you some artificial “sales price”

TAS: But there are no sales…

Our society has become dumbed down. The above seems cynical and snarky but I worked retail for a couple of years out of high school. I was shocked at how many people could not calculate 10% off (even the concept of a percentage eluded them).

And now JCP wants these folks to check themselves out. Yikes.

I hate self checkout–it’s just ridiculously slow at most stores compared to having someone ring up transaction.

For me, Won’t use self check out without a discount for the worker whose job I am doing/have taken.
