As the person who first suggested that you may possibly be suffering from GERD, it is important for you to see a gastroenterologist as soon as possible. Salt water will not help, and no one on this board can or should be diagnosing you. Please see the appropriate doctor for a diagnosis. If you can’t get to a gastro doctor, see an ENT.

I get these symptoms whenever I eat processed and/or fast food. Something about the additives/preservatives. I have to clear my throat constantly for about 30 minutes. If you’re eating in a dorm, it is quite possible you are reacting to the preservatives in the food.

For the most part I now eat mostly whole foods (organic whenever possible) and small servings of lean protein. I rarely have a problem.

Good luck.

I am now taking Zantac and avoiding food that could aggravate the symptoms. Forget the saltwater and lemon thing that I tried before, I’ve read the lemon actually makes things worse because of citrus. The nurse probably misunderstood what my mom was saying. :/
