Also, I’ve been feeding the kids in Africa for 7 years …I won basically every award possible for Alaskan Kids. Oh, my dad donates 300k to harvard a year. It’s cause we’re rich ******* like that.

Just kidding…lol

hmmm I think mine would be that I’m a transfer student from a really small school (Kenyon) that got a lot of press this year for being the last town in the US to finish voting… at 4am. Also, I’m native american AND I think my essays were very good. Besides that…er…scores are about average for where I applied and gpa too…I’m trying to get to NYU.

cool thread…

i used illegal drugs my freshman year…got arrested for three different counts of possession of different drugs/paraphernalia. this on top of an assault and battery charge against a school teacher the previous year. I had a 2.67 GPA that year.

moved to a private school…now have a 4.0 overall gpa after 1st semester of senior year. got into varsity sports, hospital internship, intel excellence in computer science award for synopsis silicon valley science championships beating out kids from top bay area high schools (monta vista, etc)

now im going to ucsd :)

I’m a sarcastic a**hole.

(And that’s actually true…Or is it?)

My hook…I love Literature ^_^

rsi, nih grant

enough said.

i applied to a scholarship specifically for asians and i talked abt my cultural backgd n family history n stuff… while my fellow finalists were preppy intl school students who couldnt wait to tell everyone how american their accent was n how many US summer programs they had took part in before. that basically sums it up i guess.

by graduation will have over 100 foreign language credits (one year of a language = 10 credits. i’m going to have studied 6 differant languages)

one of the highest ranked non-native speaking spanish students in teh state of california (based on a standardized test that i took before traveling to paraguay last summer)

travel to latin america 2 summers in a row living by myself in a rural community helping them implement projects (pretty much peace corps but for high school/college kids and just for the summer. it’s a very well known and liked program by admissions people at colleges). went to paraguay for 2 monts last summer and oging to dominican republic for 2 months this summer. very few people do the program 2 summers in a row

i’m Black (but i guess that doesn’t matter since i’m going to a historically Black college); am just about fluent in Spanish; am one of very few female computer science majors that applied, and had only 1 extracurricular activity.

oh, i guess that last one’s not really a hook not really a hook…

taking Russian and Spanish - senior year both of these will be AP - taking “college Russian” junior year but senior year taking the real thing since they are introducing it that year
